Low investment, high returns

Here is a list of Marvel characters that I feel give you the biggest bang for your buck. Why round off your team with an AIM medic or a SWAT Officer when one of these characters can do the trick. These can be attackers, support characters or simply harassers. Their low point costs combined with their powers create pieces that can be exploited in certain situations. Here is the list in no real order. You can pick and choose which characters would help your game out the most.

• Scourge Veteran
o For 21 points, you get a 3 clicks of damage stealth machine. His short
range (6) is disappointing but for 21 points, it’s more than worth it. Just park him in hindering terrain in the middle of the map and your opponent will have to address him or suffer the consequence.

• Con Artist Rookie
o 11 points to get Perplex on a character. There’s an activation click but
you still have to admit that’s still pretty cheap to field an army of these
nasty perplexing hookers. I’m not the kind of guy who would use a cheese team like this but if your willing to sell your soul for a victory, this is one of the most abused characters in Heroclix.

• Destiny Rookie
o Probability Control is often overlooked as one of the important powers. It will let you re-roll break aways, attacks and B/C/F. You can turn a critical miss (causing a click of damage to you) into an outstanding success adding a click of damage to your victim. She also has the Super Senses power allowing her a 33% chance to stay alive long enough to actually help your team out.

• Black Panther Rookie
o Stealth and Outwit at the same time on a character. If you put a piece of hindering terrain on top corner of a building, Black Panther can Outwit and be hidden from reprisal at the same time. He can Outwit anyone within 10 squares and can move up to 9 squares per turn. That is a very mobile piece. You can actually stand a pretty good chance of tracking down KC Superman and knocking out is Impervious or HSS.

• Paramedic Veteran
o I chose this character over the rookie and Exp simply because she keeps support for her whole dial (4 clicks) and gets an 8 attack to start with compared to Exp’s 7 attack. Understand that it’s just one point but it can make all the difference in the world when it counts.

• Jean Grey Rookie
o Not the lowest cost TK (mandroid armor, 28 points) but she can also heal clicks to other x-men (or wildcards) with the TA. She has a 7 attack, 1 damage and no range. Let’s face it, she is not going to attack anyone unless completely obligated to. Mandroid rookie keeps his TK for only one click while Jean Grey keeps hers for 3 clicks. Her best bet is to stay close to Cyclops, throwing your guys at the enemy while healing Cyclops when he pushes.
