MARVEL HEROCLIX: AVENGERS FLYING OFF RETAIL SHELVES

July 12, 2007 (SEATTLE) — WizKids Inc. announces that the sales of Marvel™ HeroClix®: Avengers, which officially released world-wide on June 27, has blown away WizKids sales expectations as well as expectations of industry retailers.  Not only did the presales of Marvel HeroClix: Avengers exceed the total sales of each of the last two HeroClix expansions, but it outsold the presales for those two sets combined!

With the arrival of Avengers, some industry retailers have seen tremendous growth in what was once considered a mature and declining business.

“Thanks to Avengers, we had the best Thursday this year. Avengers first day sales beat first day Futuresight [recent Magic: The Gathering release] sales by about 25 percent and far outpaced any of the HeroClix releases in the past year,” says Scott Thorne of Castle Perilous Games and Books in Carbondale, Illinois.

“I have sold more Avengers this week than I have for a new set in recent memory,” says Tony Lakas, owner of the Danger Room in Anderson, Indiana.  “I have sold through 3 cases and I am reordering the rest of my allotment today.”
