Imperial Bower

Imperial Bower – #KICO-EN003

If you control no other monsters: You can Tribute this card; take 2 different monsters from your Deck among “Queen’s Knight”, “King’s Knight”, and/or “Jack’s Knight”, and either add to your hand or Special Summon each monster. You can only use this effect of “Imperial Bower” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Imperial Bower is the speed this archetype needed.

Summon on turn one and pop to Special Summon “Queen’s Knight”, “King’s Knight”, and/or “Jack’s Knight”. Sure, you can add them to your hand, but lets be real, you’re always going to be Special Summoning them. Bower is a RoTA target, as well as Shining Angel which could see play in the archetype still. Decent stats on its own, but it won’t be surviving the turn, the effect is too good. Combined with Joker’s Knight you have everything you need for your Arcana Knight Joker. With it becoming easier to summon your knights it may be more prefferable to go for the new Link 3 they got or a different Link 3 all-together (the new Link 3 does what Arcana Knight Joker does but you don’t need a Fusion card).

Not much else to say about Imperial Bower: this was needed (like so many archetypes before) when the archetype was first released. It is speed and is an automatic Link 2 at its worst. The only drawback it has makes it a good recovery card after your field has been taken down.

If playing one brick outside Poker Knights for yesterday’s card was bad, imagine needing two now for Imperial Bower.

Imperial Bower is a Level 4 LIGHT Warrior with 1500 ATK and DEF. Fineish stats again for the Level, we’re back to being searchable off RotA, and LIGHT is always great. Anyways, controlling no other monters lets you tribute this card to take 2 of King’s, Queen’s, or Jack’s Knight and either add them to your hand or Special Summon them. In theory, it’s nice to summon Queen’s Knight and search King’s Knight with this, just you’re likely using the Normal Summon for this effect, so you’d have to wait for next turn most likely. You might be more likely to just summon the 2 monsters to the field for some board presence. It’s free material for Extra Deck plays or to try and tribute summon your Slifer the Sky Dragon. Hard once per turn here, which seems a little redundant considering resolving this most likely makes a second use of the effect impossible. Either way, fine card in Poker Knights, wouldn’t recommend trying to run 2 of them outside the archetype to try and use this.

Now THIS card makes yesterdays completely irrelevant.  Imperial Bower is a Light/Warrior, Level 4 Monster, with 1500 attack and defense.  Okay, 1500 lets this guy get searched.  By a LOT of cards, which is a big plus to start.  Controlling no other Monsters lets you Tribute this to either Special Summon two of the three original Knights, OR add them to your Hand.  They come from the Deck, which is incredible, so you’re +1 yourself in terms of presence on the Field alone.  This still isn’t great for King as he gets his Effect only when NORMAL Summoned, but getting two of the three that fast is great.  The problem here is that if you can’t get/don’t have the third one ready to drop or revive to the Field, this is all for naught.  Since you have to control NO Monsters to Tribute this guy, you’re only 2/3 of the way to your God (or whatever you’re doing) unless you XYZ or Link; say you took King and Queen.  So there is certainly potential there outside just dropping a God, and an out if you can’t.  This is a gem in your opening Hand, regardless of you going first or second, but the further you go in a match, the less power this card is going to have.  It could be a good enough late game card, but if your Field is empty and you have to Normal Summon this, it might not be enough to get you out of a hole.  But the open possibility for Extra Deck plays in a pinch really warms me to this card some.

Art:  4/5  This is an improvement over yesterday too.  It’s Bower (not Bowers) so I assume that one is a duplicate, projection, shadow whatever of the other, and not knowing which (if either) is the real Bower is kinda awesome
