Hello Pojo Fans,

Junk Speeder may just bring “Synchron” decks back.

A Level 5 Synchro is pretty easy to summon, especially when it requires a “Synchron” Tuner. Junk Synchron and a Level 3 into this is a simple, and classic play. When Synchro Summoned, you get to spam the board with “Synchron” Tuners with different levels. Two monsters can net you a +5 potentially, that’s pretty overwhelming. Balance the card by locking out all other summons except Synchro, that’s fair. Double it’s ATK until the end of the turn? This card is pretty darn good when Synchro Summoned. Anytime you can double a monster’s ATK it means more damage for your opponent. The next turn it is left out there at 1800ATK though, but you should have several monsters backing it up and then you’ll be able to use them for any kind of summons you want. For what it’s worth, this card can make some big plays possible. You can also pop the monsters with effects that same turn, or go higher in your Synchro Summons.

Junk Speeder could find itself as a key piece to bringing Junk Synchro-centric decks back to being higher than Tier 3.

I really want someone to use this with United We Stand. Anyway, Junk Speeder is a Level 5 Wind Warrior-type Synchro Monster with 1800 Atk and 1000 Def. It requires 1 Synchron Tuner and one non-tuner to properly Synchro Summon this Junk monster. The stats aren’t great. Wind is fine, but Windwitches aren’t Synchron Tuners. Level 5 is easy enough to get out and Warriors have a ton of support. It’s the Atk that is a little paltry. 2000 would have been better. There is a nice effect to double the original Atk of Junk Speeder, but only for the duration of the turn it was Synchro Summoned and only after an attack has been declared involving it and another monster. No direct attacking bonuses. Only once per turn. The great effect is that when it’s Synchro Summoned, you can spam the field with as many Synchron Tuners as possible from your deck so long as they have different Levels in Def position. Again free effects are good, but you are completely locked out of Extra Deck Summons for the entire turn you activate the effect, except for Synchro Summons. In this Link era, that might be a tough pill to swallow, but Synchro Spam decks are a lot of fun to play, especially online where you can use Needlefiber. Until then, Junk Speeder looks like golden trash to me with stats and effects that are good enough for now, but will hopefully be abused later.

It seems we have the main promos for the 2018 Mega Tins up for review today, starting off with my favorite of the two, Junk Speeder.

Junk Speeder is a Level 5 WIND Warrior Synchro with 1800 ATK and 1000 DEF and requires 1 Synchron Tuner and 1+ non-Tuners. Summoning this is easy with Junk Synchron and any Level 2 in the GY or if you can get to Jet Synchron while you control a Level 4. WIND and Warrior leave more to be desired for this Synchro, and the stats are just ok for a Level 5. If this card is Synchro Summoned, you can Special Summon any number of Synchron Tuner monsters from your Deck with different levels. There are Synchron Tuners for Levels 1-5, so it is easy to produce 5 Tuners. Kinda insane we got to the point where we can get a card that summons a ton of Tuners from the deck. The downside of this effect, however, is that when you summon all these Tuners, you cannot summon from the Extra Deck for the whole turn except to Synchro Summon, before and after you use this effect. Therefore, you don’t get to cheat and get a Link Summon first, this could of been insane if that clause wasn’t there and Needlefiber was TCG Legal. This can still facilitate many Synchro Summons by going into several PSY-Framelord Omegas since that is still Unlimited in the TCG, or you can get multiple Synchros if you already had a Link Monster. The thing is that you’ll need to produce all the non-Tuners for the Synchro Summons since Junk Speeder is only giving you all the Tuners while he is a non-Tuner himself. When an attack is declared involving this Synchro Summoned card and another monster, you can double this card’s ATK and DEF until the end of the turn. 3600 ATK isn’t much to laugh at, so this could run over a ton of different monsters. Both effects are a hard once per turn, as I would of expected so you don’t get too much ATK and DEF or summon too many Tuners. Junk Speeder is a fun card for the Synchron archetype and as long as you can produce the non-Tuners and have zones to summon Synchro Monsters to, you can gain a lot of value out of Junk Speeder.

Art: 4.5/5 A big improvement from the first Junk Synchro we got, Junk Warrior. This thing doesn’t look like Junk, though.

Junk Speeder continues the week, and what a pretty look card this promo is.  Level 5, Wind attributed, Warrior Synchro, who specifically needs a Synchron Tuner (of which there are 20 after looking up, I knew there were a lot but that still surprised me) and one or more non-Tuner generic Monsters.  Being Level 5, the summon, even with a specific(ish) Tuner is easy enough.

1800 attack is low for a Level 5 (as is the 1000 defense) however.  But, as you see from the first effect, he may not be meant for attacking.  He lets you spam your Field with as many differently leveled Synchro Tuners from your Deck as is possible.  You’re prevented from non Synchro Extra Deck Summons for that turn, but as that’s what this effect is going to accomplish, that’s not as issue.

When you use Junk Speeder for an attack the turn he was Synchro Summoned, you can double his attack, making his paltry 1800 a gargantuan 3600 for the turn.  Makes things a little better there, doesn’t it?  So in addition to speed and assets, he can be used for a big hit to deal some nice Damage with that attack as well.  I could totally see some One Turn Kills coming from this.

Rating:  4/5

Art:  5/5  This guy doesn’t look as…messy or janky as most of the Junk Monsters, but I can still believe he’s part of the family.
