Junktown gives you exactly what it promises. In fact, not having read any of the design stories or background, I can’t help but wonder if the new token type was named for this location. Regardless, lands with late-game activated abilities have often found success, and so this card has potential too. Recall that Junk tokens mimic cards like Wrenn’s Resolve, and there are plenty of ways to abuse that effect. It may also occasionally be relevant that this way of getting them is mostly uncounterable; and further, we’re no longer surprised by red decks that want a lot of artifacts, which is another approach you might take for this (assuming you feel like keeping track of multiple token types!).

One of the cities at the center of the initial Fallout offerings (I think), Junktown is a sort of interesting card in that you can either keep using it for steady resources or cash it in in an attempt to strike it lucky. This is effectively a “draw three”, albeit in a roundabout way and for six mana (5 to activate, plus Junktown itself)…but it’s also not going to be a dead card in your hand until you get to that point, and it can cash itself in when you need the cards more than the mana.

Junktown is a bit too slow for Constructed play, but it’s good enough to be a bit player in other formats. It’s rarely going to be the star of the show, but it can pay off nicely as a later resource source that can put you over the head in a later game.
