Have you ever been playing a deck with equipment, and drawn them when you didn’t have a creature to use them with? That may not happen as much now that Stoneforge Mystic is considered a staple in the well-investigated or nearly-solved formats, but it does happen. Reconfigure is an interesting answer to that problem, and while some of the cards with this ability are not very efficient, Lion Sash has a disruptive ability that plenty of decks in the bigger formats will hate to see. I’m also still trying to get my head around the fact that the +1/1 counters are on the Lion Sash itself – it makes sense because the reconfigure ability means that it can use them directly, but also opens a lot of interactions with proliferate and the like.

I also can’t help but feel like reconfigure is an attempt to solve the long-standing rules problems with Tempest‘s Licids.

Lion Sash has certainly been turning heads, thanks to its semblance to Scavenging Ooze. And, more or less, it’s a white Scavenging Ooze; while you can’t gain life off of the exile, the trade-off is that Lion Sash gets bigger off of anything besides instants and sorceries, which might somewhat make up for the smaller body early.

Of course, that’s not this cat’s only trick, and reconfigure is an interesting wrinkle that both can buff an ally and provide the kitty with some protection. An equipped permanent quits being a creature, and Lion Sash shares its counters (so to speak) with whatever it’s equipped to, and this can be helpful in empowering a bigger creature than it might be on its own.

It is susceptible to swaths of removal, but I feel like Lion Sash is very good. It’s cheap graveyard hate that does more than hate on graveyards, and it plays well with all sorts of artifact and equipment support (like Stoneforge Mystic). It’s going to likely see a lot of play, and for good reason; it does a good amount in one card, and while it needs time to get rolling, it’s certainly a threat all on its own.

Love some graveyard hate for white!  At the low low cost of two mana value, Lion Sash just has the opportunity to get bigger and bigger because you don’t need to tap it to exile the card.  Love this card, it can either stand by itself or it can be equipped on a creature and just go for a power swing.  This very much reminds me of the era of Cawblade in standard, I hope the Johnny’s find the right version of Squadron Hawk in this standard rotation to pair with this card!
