Some cards are just too good to print and FoF is
one of them. In my memory
almost every blue card that allowed multiple card
drawing completely upset
the color balance in the game. A card which cost
3U and lets you get at
least one of the 5 top cards in your library and
usually more is way to
cheap, then, of course, it's an instant adds up to
a great card. It is a 5
in every format.

Good lord this card is
good. The card advantage alone is nuts, but
in combination with Threshold and Flashback, not
to mention things like Wonder, Genesis, and Glory,
this card is a monster. It's been ridiculous
from the day it was printed, and it will continue
to be ridiculous until the day it rotates
out. The 3rd best blue uncommon ever printed
(behind Mana Drain and Force of Will).
Not QUITE as
dominant in limited due to the more uniqueness of
the format, but I still would play it if going
blue, and consider going blue if I had it.

I'm so incredibly glad that FoF got printed in
Invasion instead of Odyssey. Can you imagine
this in
the block version of Speculation? Absolutely
nuts.
Oh, by the way, if it gets banned in Type 1, it's
usually good in constructed formats. It's
definitely
not terrible in limited, either, since it's
extremely
splashable and works with the U/R/B color combo
that
is great in Invasion drafting. Oh, and it's
an
instant. I love Blue.

Um, yeah. Instant card drawing for Blue, and it
lets you dig 5 cards deeper
in your library. Add in the Fact that your
opponent has to divvy the piles,
and mistakes happen. So it ends up being pure
Fiction that this card is
anywhere near balanced. This card has led to
R&D saying that they will not
be printing any more aggresively costed blue card
drawing instant spells ...
they will either cost a lot more, or they will be
sorceries. See Deep
Analysis for what the best of the future looks
like.
There's a reason they've restricted this in type
1.

Fact or Fiction is mad card drawing.
For 4 mana, you have the possibility of getting 3
cards at instant speed, or fewer cards with higher
quality to them. Most of all, you manage to
put your opponent on the spot, and can cause them
to over analyze certain situations merely because
they let you have something. The only two major
downfalls to Fact or Fiction is that your opponent
controls what you can get, and now knows what a
large part of your hand. Still, it gets a 5
in constructed. This didn't see so much play
for nothing.
In limited, you opened this, you took it.
Rarely was there something better in a pack
(unless of course you opened a dragon legend.)
It is major card drawing for a deck that could use
it, and going from how draft decks are, you're
game winner could come up much faster as well.
A 5 in limited as well. |

What
more can be said about a card that gets more press
than any other?
Essentially for U3 you
always get a minimum of 3 cards. Now, your
opponent gets to select these 3 cards, and you
might choose the 2 card pile, but Inspiration is
not even that good. With Psychatog, its even
worse. A 5 in all categories, even restricted in
Type 1. |

What
is there to say about this card that hasn't
already been said. It's obviously good in
constructed. It's in almost any deck that
has blue, minus a few super aggro decks.
In limited, it's pretty good. It's probably
not a first pick, but you're never gonna be upset
to draw it if you do take it :)

Fact or
Fiction. This card is all about the argument over
whether or not R&D should make cards that are
too good. This card is TOO good. Maybe if it were
a sorcery? Maybe if it cost more mana? Maybe if it
were double blue in the casting cost? I don't
know, but they made this card way to easy to use,
and it punishes dumb opponents.

Over here
in England its a holiday today and I want to still
be in bed so I'll keep this brief.
Great card. A no brainer in any blue deck. What
were Magic R&D thinking? Blah blah...
