Card of the Day

Now,
we talk about the REAL poop. Before, I was
using the word poop because I wanted to
gratuitously use the word poop. Today, it is
poop. We're talking a bowl-full of the brown
stuff. In
constructed, I can not ever think of a time that
this would have been good. It's just
absolute garbage. In
limited, it's not as bad. Swapping your pile
for their goodness is good. I would play it.

Oooo....I had never
heard of this card before. Interesting! You could
really have fun with this. It's most likely
sideboarded to bring in, but you could really mess
with someone's table when you trade your nothing
for their something.
In limited,
definitely play it.

Legerdemain
I know most of the
COTD crew will have to look this one up :). I
chose it becaus it shares a theme with
yesterday's card, that being an exchange of
permanents. And with a lot of people running out
to the stores today to take back what they
didn't want for something they do want, this
card seemed appropriate.
This is a stronger
version of Juxtapose. You can exchange an
artifact or a creature with one of your
opponents. The casting cost on this is pretty
high, however - you have to pay 4 mana, have a
creature or artifact out yourself, and have your
opponent have a better creature or artifact out for
this to be playable. And most of the time, it's
not worth it.
In limited, I can
see this squeaking in if you've had a bad draft,
or if your opponent has a creature you can't
deal with any other way. But that's about it.

Meaning slight of hand (or agility of hand),
this card is fun, but has
several problems when you compare it to something
like gilded drake or
donate. It's more expensive, they have
to have a card of the appropriate
type, and most importantly, you lose
not only the legerdemain card itself
in the casting, but whatever cards you give
them. And since control magic
or treachery is generally better, this card
quickly becomes an expensive,
constricted-use donate. Far more interesting
in limited, since they always
have creatures, and your elf for their fatty
is a worthwhile board change.

With such a odd name, it seems pretty simple.
I don't think its a very good card since its so
expensive for such a limited ability. Also its a
sorcery. Only burning wishable...
In limited, it could be good giving them your
weaker creature for their bomb is always nice.
In sealed, its even better since taking their
bomb most likely means winning you the game, and
making them fearful to play it next game.
