Devourer is a powerful flyer in Limited, and a
semi-powerful creature in Constructed. If this was
a year ago, he would have seen play in the Skies
deck. But its not, and there is no Skies deck, and
he sits in the trade binder, a result of being
part of the wrong expansion. In Limited, he's a 4.
In Constructed he's a 2.5. |

Constructed ***
A 4cc 4/4 Flier is a serious threat, draft them
highly and pray for them while opening your sealed
deck.
In constructed you must pro/con this creature
against Air Elemental. The difference
between 4cc and 5cc in constructed formats is
huge. If you're playing an aggresive deck
Thought Devourer is hands down beter than Air
Elemental. In a control deck the small hand
size from Devourer may cramp your style, although
if you're playing control you'll prolly pick
Mahomoti over Air Elemental anyway since he can't
be FTK'd. So the verdict is... Thought
Devourer over Air Elemental! |

Devourer is a very well balanced card - a 4/4
flyer for 4 mana, with your hand size reduced by
4. I would expect it to see play in a lot of
decks, U/G Madness being the major one.
Unfortunately, he's not cut out for mono blue, or
highly controlling decks, because his drawback is
so damning. In constructed, a 3.
In limited, a 4/4 flyer for
4 is awesome... and will dominate if picked. He'll
go early, and will be played often. Gets a 4.2 in
