The
NEW 'baby dragon' on the block, move over Mystic
Enforcer, your fire-breathing cousin is around to
kick some heads in. I agree with other reports
that this will find its way into the counter-burn
strategy very easily. I can see punisher decks
using this guy to punish even more. A first pick,
a 'glad to open', an overall strong card. 4.5 in
Limited, 4 in Constructed. |

Fledgling Dragon
Under a worst-case scenario,
Fledgling Dragon is a 2/2 flyer for 2RR. That's
pretty good for Red anyway, and the Threshold
ability makes him a cut above. A 5/5 flyer that
pumps for 4 mana? Oh yeah. In addition, Red will
be able to achieve Threshold very easily in the
near future.
In constructed, go for him.
I can really see Fledgling Dragon being a player
in modern day burn decks. In limited he's still
great, but it'll be tougher to get to Threshold.

Fledgling Dragon
is a decent card, being a 2/2 before Threshold, a
Shivan Dragon after. It will see some play, but
not as much as it should because this guy is still
slow, and red does not need a slow card. A 2.5 in
constructed.
In limited, big creatures
are fun. When they are green or red, they become
even better, even if they are overcosted. This guy
may not be a first pick, but being a flyer for a
color with nothing like it in the block, it will
go high. A 4 in limited.

I really like this
guy, he reminds me a little of the old school
Dragon Whelp which was a decent Limited card
back in the day. The Fledgling starts life as a
2/2 red flier for 2RR and then grows into a
Shivan beating machine when you get threshold.
With red this could happen fairly quickly via
burn spells or via a mechanism like book burning
using your library as the target.
I don't see the
Fledgling getting a lot of play in constructed
mainly due to the weakened state of Red in the
current block. However, in Limited I believe he
is excellent and should see play anytime he
appears in the card pool.

Fledgling Dragon
This card is all about the
bat down, and may actually give people a reason to
play red again, which would be a miracle. Been
missing seeing people getting burned out. I mean,
is Wild Research really a red card? I want to see
goblins and dragons and firebolts to the head
again.

Undercosted fatties
are simply great. Red should not have a problem
achieving threshold by the mid game, as most of
its best cards are instants and sorceries.
