I
like this card - it's silly. :)
There is just
something real nasty about Going land, walla, land
mongrel, land, arrogant wurm via the mongrel,
land, wait for them to FoF at end of turn, then
Seedtime them. What's more heinous?
Seedtime, then do it again same turn. If you
thought one additional turn was a kick in the
nuts, two will turn them black and blue.
Seriously, this
card, when played in the correct aggro deck, can
do what defeats control - deprive them of time.
In limited, they
will seldom to never play blue spells on your turn
in such a way that matters. Just be happy
you pulled/drafted this card so you can punish the
blue players in constructed with it. :)

What can be said about this card that hasn't been
said
already?
The answer to that question is: A whole hell of a
lot.
Because, for one reason or another, not much HAS
been
said about this card.
When people first saw this on the spoiler list, it
was
the subject of much discussion. It was hailed as
the
green Time Walk, the anti-Fact or Fiction card,
the
bane of Buehler. It may be all those things and
more.
It may be a good, even above-average sideboard
card.
But isn't it a little bit sad that a mechanic as
broken as "take another turn after this
one" isn't as
good an anti-blue card as River Boa?
Here's the typical mana curve of greensources.dekh:
turn-1 Elf, Bird, Careful Study, Lavamancer,
Rootwalla
turn-2 Mongrel, Looter, Aquamoeba, Brushhopper,
maybe
even Call
turn-3 Centaur, FTK, either of two Wurms
By the time green wants to leave sources untapped
during its turn to cast the Seedtime, Blue will be
able to Fact *and* counter the Seedtime or counter
*and* counter again.

Well, 1 mana is more than you think when the power
difference is only 1. Still, Blistering
Firecat
should be decent, and I think it starts to
complete a
competitive sligh deck in type 2. It may
replace Ball
Lightning in extended, since the ball is rotating
out.
In Limted, this will be a killer card, especially
if
you can recur it at all. As with Ball
Lightning, its
much more like a burn spell to the head than a
creature.

A definate foil for
the blue decks. This means that this belongs in
the sideboard, if you are going to play it at
all. The extra turn that this gives can
frequently give you the damage you need before
blue takes control. Unfortunately, most decks
are just too slow to take advantage of this
effect. A good effect, but I haven't ever seen
it be great.
In limited, this is
crap. the early tempo that this would give you
is even less important 95%+ of the time.

Since I really don't like playing green in
constructed, this is pure speculation. It
could be
good but I'd rather have something like Choke
instead.
In limited it's not horrible since it can
let you get
in that last attack to finish off your opponent.
Plus, blue seems to get played a lot in draft.
I just
wouldn't pick this too early if you can find some
quality creature in its place. |
