Though it has an
interesting concept behind it and can be useful in
a few situations, in general, Backslide just
doesn't make the cut, even in limited. Forget
constructed. In limited, I might bring it in
from the sideboard if I needed the tricks, for
instance, my opponent is playing a lot of high
cost for morph creatures. That could give me
the opportunity to unmorph it when they don't have
the mana to re-flip it so I can block and kill it.
But those situations just aren't common enough to
warrent maindecking this card. Yes, it does cycle,
so that's a plus if you're already going blue, and
I might play it just for the cycle ability if I
had a couple really good bombs in my deck that I
was trying to get to fast. Otherwise, there are
probably some better picks for the slot.

Before Legions, this
was pure crap. Now, people will try to use this
to get another morph trigger out of their morph
creature. And they will find out that this is
still crap, since all of the morph trigger
creatures are crap in constructed.
In limited, the
reuse of a morph trigger might be nice. But I
hope I wouldn't ever have to play this in my
deck.

Backslide
Ok, it cycles for one mana so you can always
consider including it, and
every once in a while you can morph down their
dude during combat, or
remorph your skinthinner, or somesuch. In
constructed, all it has going for
it is it's cheap cycling cost, which is not
enough to let it see play.

Backslide has some
good potential with the right combos and if not it
can always Cycle. I like it, plus the art tickles
me.
Constructed – Useful
for the ‘when morphed’ abilities – 2.75
Limited – Lots of
morph here, could be really useful with good
timing – 3.00
PEZ – Morph is little
used in this format – 1.50 |

Backslide
In constructed it has cycling... but thats
nothing.
In limited it has cycling for one U, which
is good for deck thinning. It a weird situation
the abililty can do something, but it almost never
does. If I usually land up needed some filler
cards, this is a good cheap choice. Getting deeper
faster is always a good thing when its cheap.

Backslide
Backslide is one of my favorites, because it has
three major uses in limited
that can help you out. First of all, it flips
morph creatures face down...
again. Great against things like Exalted Angels
and Firecats, because, at
least early in the game, it makes them easier to
handle (Remember that if
you use Backslide on such creatures, make sure
they can't turn around and
morph it again...) Surprisingly, instances where
flipping a creature face
down come up more often than not, making Backslide
useful.
It also cycles for one mana if needed. Really
helpful since it isn't lead
weight in your hand if it isn't needed.
This card also allows you to turn your
Morph-Effect creatures face down
again, and to make their abilities useful again.
In constructed, it's not that good, but makes for
nice sideboard in some
decks.
Constructed - 2.0/5.0 (Perhaps a little high, but
I maintain that there's a
use for this card.)
Limited - 3.5/5.0 (Annoys opponents by making them
waste mana, may help kill
creatures, can fog all but 2 damage in an attack,
and can allow you to
break Morph-Effect creatures like Echo Tracer.) |
