Card draw wins games,
pure and simple. Give me a good deck, and let me
outdraw my opponent at a significant rate, and I
will win the game. Synapse Sliver could be a
boggling card drawing machine in the right deck,
and Wizards has apparently given us the ammo in
the new Sliver set. Yes, Slivers are viable again
in Type 2, at the very least for casual play. And
fun...oh, yes...fun! While Synapse is much
better in constructed, in a deck with a few tricks
and a few of the right Slivers, it could be an
advantage in Limited also.
And you've got to
love the Goblin slam in the flavor text!

Well, at first, they
decided to move the Ophidian ability to green,
since blue had too many good abilities. Then,
they needed a special ability for the blue rare
sliver. So they decided to let blue and green
share the Ophidian ability.
In constructed, this
thing is really good, and the casting cost tries
to balance it out. Unfortunately, at 5 mana is
just when blue starts to want to draw more
cards. So, this fits right in a sliver deck.
Unfortunately, you
can't guarantee any quantity of slivers in a
draft, and since this works for all slivers
(your opponent's too), I probably wouldn't touch
this in limited.

5 mana for a sliver is certainly a lot, but this
guy is one of the few
reasons you would play the new slivers in
constructed or limited.
Especially with his buddy, the unblockable-maker
sliver.

I like this critter, Card draw is awesome.
However,
he costs 5 by the time you can start attacking
continually with him, its already late and you're
winning so..
