Intruder Alarm has
combo written all over it, though I just can't
think of what that combo would be. I wasn't
playing during Tempest block, so I don't know how
it was abused then, if it was.
(pause)
Okay, I asked Scott
about how it was used then. He said there was some
combo using Urza cards. It involved Cloud of
Faeries, a pinger (something that taps to deal one
damage to a player), and repeatedly bouncing and
replaying a creature. Intruder alarm repeatedly
untapped the pinger and you could ping the
opponent to death. Interesting.
In limited, you
really eliminate most any combo potential, so the
card becomes almost pointless and not worth a
slot.

Intruder Alarm
An interesting
comboish card. I once had the deck built back
when it was in Stronghold that had it, Tradewind
Rider, Deranged Hermit, and Priest of Titania.
Good times.
Unfortunately,
though, there's not that much that can abuse
this card these days. It seems like an
interesting card to be able to attack and play
defense (by casting a creature after combat),
but it is symmetrical, and it's costing you the
card.
Same problems in
limited. You'll typically have much better.

Intruder Alarm
I really, I'm talking really, think this is a fun
card >>> Intruder Alarm +
Voice of the Woods
This is a great combo to build a deck around. Tap
five elves, a 7/7
elemental is put into play, which triggers the
Alarm, into untapping all
creatures, then you can go ahead and make another
elemental, producing an
infinite number of them!
