There are many better
ways to gain life nowadays, and usually in higher
quantities. The one advantage that this card has
is that it's an artifact, and would probably not
suffer demise quite as easily as a creature that
would gain you life (like Wellwisher) or even an
enchantment. There just aren't a lot of killer
artifacts that people are worried about, and many
sideboards are against enchantments only, and not
artifacts. Still, poop is poop. In constructed,
there is almost no way this card could earn a
valuable slot in a deck. In limited, it would be a
last pick, and only actually used if filler was
needed to round out a deck.

There are many
artifacts that have done what this has done over
the years, but this is the original. The one
life point it gives you is typically not worth
the slot you would give it, though.
In limited, this
will typically be a 23rd in, and you will be
unhappy to play it. A creature is much better in
this slot.

Fountain of Youth does
suck up mana every turn but 1 extra life over a
number of turns starts to add up.
Constructed - Decks
are sleek and can hit hard so not a huge effect -
1.95
Limited - Most
games tend to hit a point where there is a
creature stall and where there is a lot of extra
mana sitting around - 3.10
PEZ
- Many players think this card is the answer to
Burn. Maybe it is but only if you can afford the
mana commitment - 2.45 |

Fountain of Youth
Fountain of Youth is what all people in Magic
consider poop. It's a bad
artifact that's only saving grace is that it
doesn't cost you anything to
play. Unfortunatley, when you look at it from the
Peasant Prospective,
would you really want to waste an uncommon slot in
your deck with this? If
you answered no, then you have your answer to,
"Would you ever in any fathom
of anyone's imagination waste a slot for this in a
deck at all?"
In limited, it's a 23 card, simply because it is
free. It doesn't break
games, and it will rarely make a difference. If
your lucky, you might use
it.
Constructed - 1.0/5.0 (Expensive activation, and
low production... sounds
like crap to me!)
Limited - 1.3/5.0 (Like I said, if you can find a
slot for it, why not? But
there's better, there's always better.) |
