Voiding Tokens Q: Would a Void named for zero destroy all tokens on the board? -Janus A: All tokens that do not have a mana cost, yes. (An example of a token that has a mana cost would be a token from Soul Foundry.) --- Q: If I Annul Chromatic Sphere, is the Chromatic Sphere still sacrificed? -Colin K. A: You can only Annul the Chromatic Sphere spell. If you Annul the spell, it moves from the stack to the graveyard as part of Annul's resolution. You can not Annul the ability of Chromatic Sphere once it is in play. Annul only counters spells. --- Q: My friends and I were playing a game where one guy had 8 lands out and played 2 Seething Songs followed by 2 Worldgorger Dragons. 3 major questions arose from this play. Is he correct in saying that once they go on the stack and all perms are removed from the first one entering play; when the other one resolves (removing the first one), he gets all of his perms back since the other one left play? A: Yes. The second Dragon will remove the first, triggering the first's leaves play ability. --- Q: Does he have sufficient mana to play BOTH Worldgorgers? A: Sure. He has 12 mana in his pool (at least 10 of it red), which is sufficient to play 2 Worldgorger Dragons. --- Q: If he does get to keep all of his permanents AND one of the Worldgorger Dragons, and another opponent used Visara the Dreadful (which was in play at the time) to destroy it, does he get the other Worldgorger back and lose all of his permanents again? -Steve Kessinger A: Assuming that each of the Worldgorger abilities has resolved, yes. The second Dragon's leaves play ability will return the first, again triggering the first's leaves play ability. --- Q: If I use a Shaman's Trance to access my opponents graveyard as if it were my own, would pulling cards out of it with a Recall be a legal move? A: No. The only this you are allowed to do with Trance is PLAY the spells. See Mantra 6. --- Q: "Removing the source of an ability does not stop that ability from happening." Could you give me an example of this just so I can visualize it? A: Play Prodigal Sorcerer's ability, and then remove it from play before the ability resolves. --- Q: Would it be legal to tap my opponents attacking creatures with Puppet Strings after he declares an attack, therefore rendering them unable to attack? -Stephen D. A: No. Once attackers are declared, tapping or untapping them will not remove them from combat. --- Q: How does Shared Fate work in multiplayer games? Can we all choose which library (not our own) to draw from? A: Correct. --- Q: Spells like Tooth/Scale of Chiss-Goria can be played as instants. Does this also constitute that they can be countered by spells like Flash Counter, as they can be considered an instant? A: No. Even though they can be played as instants, they are not instants. They are still artifacts. --- Q: With Ice Floe is damage prevented by tapping the attacker or does it go through if unblocked because it has already been declared as an attacker? A: Ice Floe does not prevent the creature from dealing damage. It will still damage you. Read the card. --- Q: With Gilded Drake, what would happen if my opponent has no creatures? Does he gain control of it and I get nothing? A: No. Gilded Drake would be sacrificed. You cant choose a target to play its other ability, so you would have to choose the mode to sacrifice it. Gilded Drake {1}{U} Creature -- Drake 3/3 Flying When Gilded Drake comes into play, choose one -- sacrifice Gilded Drake; or exchange control of Gilded Drake and target creature an opponent controls. If you can't make the exchange, sacrifice Gilded Drake. This ability can't be countered. (This effect doesn't end at end of turn.) --- Q: With Wicked Reward (see below) can I activate the effect multiple times? (wording quoted from card) -Ray C. A: May I suggest checking the Oracle? This is also covered there ... Wicked Reward {1}{B} Instant As an additional cost to play Wicked Reward, sacrifice a creature. Target creature gets +4/+2 until end of turn. You only pay costs once, so you can only sacrifice one creature. --- Well, it's back. That's right, the ... I counter a couple of Vengeances, I get a Myr Enforcer, followed quickly by a Broodstar, and smash in. Sideboard - In: 2 Naturalize (thought the deck had Slides in it). Out: Broodstar, Chromatic Sphere. Game 2 - I manage to get the quick Enforcer and Broodstar. He Wraths, I let it through and play a Broodstar, tapping down to 2 mana with the Aether Spellbomb on board. He Terrors the Broodstar, I cycle the Chromatic Sphere on board into a Mana Leak and cast it, thinking I was safe. He pays the 3, and my Broodstar dies. I get a Thirst for Knowledge next turn, which draws me into a second Pyrite Spellbomb, and he doesn't make me pay for my mistake, as he was at 4 at that point. Games: 2-0, Matches: 1-0 Round 2 - Eric M. - 3cAtog Game 1 - I have to take 2 mulligans, a 1 land hand into a no land, back into a 1 land which I keep at 5, as I have the Talisman. I draw the second land, but then stall. He plays a Disciple of the Vault, and an Atog. I finally stabilize, and he plays Grab the Reins on my Enforcer and swings for the win. Sideboard: In: 3 Pyroclasm, 2 Terror. Out: 2 Lightning Greaves, Broodstar, Assert Authority, Override. Game 2 - He once again gets the second turn Atog, followed quickly by another one. This game ends in much the same way the last one did - He Grabs my Myr Enforcer and swings in to kill me. I try some shenanigans, but it doesn't work. Games: 2-2, Matches: 1-1 Round 3 - Wilfred - Angry Slug Game 1 - I keep a 2 land hand, and fail to draw another mana for several turns. By that time, he's Stoned my lands, and I just scoop for game 2. Sideboard: In: 2 Terror (for Slugs). Out: Broodstar, Thoughtcast. Game 2 - He fails to draw red mana for a while, preventing him from stunting my mana development. I get a Broodstar with the Greaves on board, and am ready to swing for the win exactly. He plays a Slug to try to reduce my artifact count by 1 to live for another turn, I flip over the last card in my hand - Terror - and we are on to game 3. Game 3 - He drops a second turn Blastminer. I completely panic, dropping my Glimmervoid and Pyrite the Blastminer. Problem with that is, he Stones my other land, and that's all she wrote. Games: 3-4, Matches: 1-2 Round 4 - Bryant M. - Goblin Bidding Game 1 - He has a VERY slow start - his only drop before turn 4 is a Piledriver. That lets me set up comfortably, and I take a couple of hits before I Spellbomb him off the board, and Thirst a couple times. I draw into a pair of Broodstars, and play them. He Terrors the first in response to my equipping the Greaves, but I drop the other, and he has no answer. He has a Bidding, but without a Warchief, it was useless. Sideboard: In: 4 Pyroclasm. Out: Broodstar, Assert Authority, Override, Aether Spellbomb. Game 2 - He has a slightly faster start, dropping Sledder, Piledriver, and Sharpshooter. I Pyroclasm everything but the Piledriver off the board, and he drops a Sulfuric Vortex. I clear the Piledriver, drop an Enforcer, and counter his potential blockers as I swing in for the win. Games: 5-4, Matches: 2-2 Round 5 - Sean S. - UW Scepter Control Game 1 - He drops a turn 2 Scepter with a Boomerang on it. Fortunately, I went first, so that gives me 3 land to play with. They are artifact lands, so with my Spellbomb on board, that allows me to play an Enforcer, which gets Lightning Greaves next turn. He is unable to draw a blocker or an answer, and I roll over him. Sideboard: In: 2 Cabal Interrogator, 2 Naturalize. Out: 2 Pyrite Spellbomb, Aether Spellbomb, Thoughtcast, Broodstar. Game 2 - He drops a turn 3 Mesmeric Orb, which mills away a bunch of cards. Fortunately, I draw an Enforcer, and he is short on land for a while. He Fabricates for an Ancient Den, and imprints Annul on a Scepter. I just keep swinging with the Enforcer, and countering what I need to, and I come out on top. Games: 7-4, Matches: 3-2 My weakness against Angry Slug, along with Vengeance and Sugrim, leads me to change this deck for next time. It will look something like this: Affinity, v2 1 Aether Spellbomb 2 Assert Authority 4 Broodstar 4 Chromatic Sphere 2 Lightning Greaves 4 Mana Leak 3 Myr Enforcer 3 Override 4 Pyrite Spellbomb 3 Talisman of Progress 4 Thirst for Knowledge 4 Thoughtcast 4 Ancient Den 4 Glimmervoid 4 Great Furnace 1 Island 4 Seat of the Synod 4 Tree of Tales Sideboard: 3 Naturalize 4 Pyroclasm 3 Sacred Ground 3 Second Sunrise 2 Stifle See you Friday.
