Subject: Sacrifice T.2 John


Sacrifice is a strategy based deck that is made for utility against an environment where G/U is big and plays very well against other strategies as well. The reason I had built this deck is cause I had 5 Braids Cabal minions sitting in my box and not even one being used and I had not seen any decks using her other than those Psycho Chick decks which were all right but not good and this deck is good but not great. With practice I bet you would dominate your next local tourney with this deck.
4x Opt         I played Opt over every thing else cause it is cheap and nets me some good cards maybe not advantage but helps me get what I need.
4x Cremate        This is played for the same reason a lot of decks ran 4 Tsabo's Webs it draws you a card and does some thing that is pretty useful and your opponent is bound to always have something in there grave yard that helps them out.
4x Braids Cabal Minion         I had to play her I built the deck around her but as you all think she is good to keep control of creatures that is not true. She handles control decks better than creature type decks. When mono blue has to sac a land every turn you know that they are in a sticky situation. Not to say that Braids is not good against creature based decks she is rather good when you have a lock down so to speak, well not really a lock down but more like control of the game.
4x Duress          If you need to know why I am playing this is not the deck for you.
4x Counterspell        This card is not to be used on creatures. Well not really you can if you want but I like to save them for things that would throw you out of the game, I know you like to keep control of the board but you have to think of the future and this deck is not packed with counterspells so use them wisely.
2x Memory Lapse            See honestly I would love to play Undermines but honestly again I don't have any so to explain why I am playing this is a lil' tricky, Well with the ruling that no matter what the flashback spell is removed from the game after it is recasted that makes Memory Lapse a lil' more viable in standard. Memory lapse a flashed backed card and poof its gone good night.
3x Recoil           In the standard format the Elephant token spells and Desolation Angels have been getting there share of play. Recoil gains good advantage over both those cards. Let me tell ya' Recoiling a kicked Desolation Angel to its owners hand feels good and netting card advantage from returning there elephants is even better.
4x Ravenous Rats          See this card is a good turn 2 drop and no one really cares when they have to sac one to there Braids so this one usually works out better than any other 2 drops that I can think of.
4x Phyrexian Scuta        Now this card is kinda like the Braids I had four of them sitting in my box not being used to I decided to bust them out for this deck. No good reason why there in here I just wanted to use them, well they are a good fourth turn drop although they will probably die or get returned to your hand.
4x Innocent Blood           This card is excellent against a lot of the B/U/W variants out there you will be amazed at how many ShadowMage Crack Heads Will be sacked and they take care of other quick drops to and other hard to kill critters.
4x Vodalian Zombie        This is another great turn two drop so I like it and looking at the past couple of big tourney turn outs the zombie is a heavy hitter well umm I mean blocker. He can block any elephant and live and can block "finkel" all day long.
2x Disrupt          Well I kinda just put this in as an early game protection card against Underminds/Absorbs and so on. It helps and you get to draw a card that's neat..
2x Rushing River            This card is so um well how can I say it "Broken" this has to be my fave card in standard right now. do to the board control you can get with this card it can handle just about any two permanents (other than land which they will probably be sacing to Braids) and that my friends is good card advantage.
The land count in this deck is rather simple I chose more black land than any thing else cause it is mainly black.
4x Salt Marsh
4x Underground River
8x Swamp
6x Island

The Side board for this deck I had not really finished. but it looks some thing like this.
3x Hibernation or even Evacuation if you like.
3x Gainsay you could put two more disrupts if blue is not strong in your area or if land D is strong Tefferis Response or if weenie is strong go with Evacuation
3x Execute this card takes out Lightning Angel like there was no tomorrow and it can take out other high hitters to like Pianna, Nomad Captain and the likes.
3x Dodecapod see I like this card cause I hate losing card advantage and this teaches those damn discard fans not to mess with me you could probably most definitely live with out this card but I would play it. You could play instead of this Engineered Plague to shut down elves and other small critters.
3x Blood Pet You have no idea how good this card is, it is amazing against control decks and a lot of decks cant handle turn one drops and this guy is jacked he even can excellerate your deck and get you turn three beef.
