Subject: No rare Deck, Part 2

DEGA.dec
Ah, looking through the boxes of cards can be quite difficult, when
attempting to build a deck that costs about 10$. In the past I used Cavern
Harpy, but this time I will use a nice Apocalypse common called Dega Disciple.
It has two playable abilities:
(R,tap-give anyone +2/+0)
(B,tap-give anyone -2/-0)
They become so incredibly useful when attacking, blocking, or sacrificing.
If we use only those three colours, we can have a nice deck on our hands
complete with Terminates, Goblin Legionnaires, Flametounges, and the ever useful
Standard Bearer. I'll give a general rundown of each card and why it's here
afterwards.
Creatures: (18)
4x Dega Disciple
4x Standard Bearer
4x Flametounge Kavu
3x Goblin Legionnaire
3x Putrid Warrior
Spells: 20
4x Terminate
4x Sqee's Embrace
4x Order/Chaos
4x Duress
4x Captain's Maneuver
Land: (22)
8x Plains
6x Mountain
4x Swamp
4x Urborg Volcano
Okay, so you are thinking how this won't have a chance in any competitive
play right? Well, yes. That is quite true, but only because of 2 cards.
Pernicious Deed, and Earthquake. Those two cards wipe out my entire team. It
sucks, but I figure just don't play everything at once.
Here is a rundown of each card:
Dega Disciple - Obviously he makes the Legionnaires hit harder, and
those stupid Elephant Tokens paper weights. One of the best new first turn drops
in the game.
Standard Bearer - This makes the opponent fell like they just wasted
a Vindicate, Terminate, or Rage. These are one of the most annoying cards to
play against, ever! I might consider throwing them out for it's bigger brother,
Coalition Honour Guard.
Flametongue Kavu - Now, here is another big annoying creature for
the deck. It kills those Elephant Tokens dead, and attacks for tons with the
Disciple. It is a must for the deck.
Goblin Legionnaire - If you make a R/W deck without these bad Mamma
Jamma's you are not gonna get very far. This is the best Grizzly Bear from
Apocalypse and proves it's worth whenever you have it out.
Putrid Warrior - Read above
Terminate - This is quite obvious. Who wouldn't want to kill anything on
the board? Spiritmonger = Poo with this killer.
Squee's Embrace - This I might have to convince you of before you
would use it. Think for a second... Squee's Embrace + Flametongue Kavu? Yeah,
you get it. Throw it on a Legionnaire 3rd turn for a huge attack, or just
protect your Flagbearer.
Order/Chaos - This is a MUST HAVE!! If you come across a Penumbra
anything, this removes it from the game, so no token! The chaos side is also
important if they are at 3, but have a big dirty creature out. It will allow you
to get the attack through. I personally like this better than fire/Ice.
Duress - This gets rid of things like Earthquake and Pernicious
Deed. Also helps against early Call of the heards. Maybe you might want to
switch this for Gerrard's Verdict, and but this on the side board. It's funny
when people get hit by a Verdict, then sideboard in some Dodecapods. Little do
they know you sided out the Verdicts for Duress. It's always good for a
laugh.
Captain's Maneuver - Do you know what people look like when you use
one of these on an Urza's Rage? They get all confused and say, but this cant be
countered! You laugh at them and kill the opposing flametongue. This is another
must card, just because it is funny. Earthquake this, you bastard!
Hahaha.
Now, if you are one of those people with rares comin' out the Wazoo, and
you like this deck Idea there are many choices to use. Urza's Rage, Vindicate,
Desolation Angel, Goblin Trenches (very good), Fervent Charge (better than you
might think), Void, the list goes on and on. I think the game is a bit boring
when you have so many good cards. Before you run off, about to try this deck
yourself, and wonder 'where is the soul link?' I don't think it is necessary,
but you can put them in if you want.
Sideboard Options:
Orim's Thunder
Gerrard's Verdict
Flowstone Charger
Agonizing Demise
Night/Day
Soul Link
Dodecapod
Dega Sanctuary
Bye Bye
