I don’t know if any of you have built a deck around Megrim before, but its fun to combine milling with damage. Well, it may not be true “milling” in this case, but forcing your opponent to discard their hand and redraw from the deck has the desired effect.

Megrim:        2B

Enchantment

Whenever an opponent discards a card, Megrim deals two damage to him/her.

Enter Scourge…

With the Scourge expansion, there are great new cards out there. A couple that caught my eye is "Dragon Mage" and “DragonStorm”.

Dragon Mage:        5RR

Creature - Dragon Wizard

Flying

When this creature deals combat damage to a player, each player discards his/her hand and draws seven new cards.

5/5

DragonStorm:        8R

Sorcery

Search your deck for a Dragon card and put it into play.

Storm (put a copy of this spell into play for each spell you’ve cast previously in this turn)

You can just see the combo, can’tcha? Anyway, try combining it with some Persecute, Words of Waste, and various Specters (such as Silent or Abyssal).

I could have probably gotten it better, but my spending money got kinda low...

There are three strategies this deck can use:

1. Kill your opponent with damage from Megrim

2. Kill your opponent with creatures (pump your Nantuko Shades or use Howl from Beyond, etc.)

3. Deck your opponent.

Most decks cannot counter three different playing strategies, though they can often counter two.

Hint: When you have Dragonstorm in your hand, you can either wait to draw a Spellbook, or use it then. Save your Spellbooks for your Dragonstorm.

Hint: Play up to two Spellbooks or a low cost spell (maybe even a Howl for 0) and play Dragonstorm. Fetch your Dragon Mages into play, hopefully get a Megrim, attack.

Sample Attack Scenario

In case you're wondering, here's how the 3 Dragon Mage attack would work:

Combat Phase:

    Declare Attackers:

            3 Dragon Mage

    Respond:

            Maybe a Howl

    Declare Blockers:

            Banish their valid blockers

    Respond:

            Maybe a Howl

    Damage: 15

Other Effects: The first dragon makes everyone discard their hand, then draw 7 cards. Then the second does the same, and then the third. That means that EVERY PLAYER (including you) discards at minimum 14 cards from their hand. With just 1 Megrim out, this will kill all your opponents. Since you aren't affected by Megrim, you win.

This works extremely well in multiplayer matches, but also works good 1v1.

Oh yeah, the deck is Standard (at least when I sent this in)
