REVENGE OF THE QUARTER CARDS

This time we will be tackling Red. Red had one of the best quarter card decks around. Sligh. Sligh dominated national and local tournament scenes alike. Sligh would consistently “go off” on turn four. Only Bruiser Pump (black & blue - pump) could go off faster. Sligh did run 8 Rare cards-Ball Lightning & Cursed Scroll. But for the most part, Sligh was a glorified quarter card deck.
Red Beatdown – Type II

The deck works simply by playing a creature and then flaming anything that would get in the way or stop your creature from attacking. If the way is clear, you then just use the burn on your opponent.

This deck is not going to be as strong as the first deck. You need to add a second color for LD (land destruction) to work. LD is an extremely powerful deck type, but I would only attempt it in type I. In this deck you use your Keldon Vandals as artifact mana destruction. And you use the burn to whack mana-producing creatures.

This deck runs some creatures, but its main sources of damage are instant burn spells. You will usually use the burn spells on your opponents end step. Fire Blast is the kicker in this deck. It will usually blind-side the opponent for the final kill. You can sack tapped mountains for the spell. This means you can use a shock & a lightning bolt and then sack the tapped lands to cast Fire blast. That equates in 9 points of instant damage.

This deck uses Dwarvan Warriors to make your creatures unblockable. You then pump the creature up to deal a large amount of damage. You can use the burn to either remove a trouble some creature or to finish off your opponent. The deck is a little mana intensive and you may want to run 26 mana instead, you could remove 1-Fireball and 1-Disentegrate if you find yourself getting mana screwed.
