Unethical
Cloning
A Truly Fun, Blue
Deck

That’s the deck that if you
wanted to play a casual game with me, I
would use. Sure Sol Ring is Restricted, but
around here, we don’t care.
So many card magazines feature
decks that are made of completely rare
cards. Unlike a lot of people who are
reading this, I have a fairly large
collection. This article will be orientated
towards converting my winning deck, the one
to the right, into a fairly inexpensive and
easy to get deck, that has comparable
results.
First I should explain my deck. I
arrived at my favorite place to hang out in
Minot, ND, when I found out they were
closing down for good. I was sadden, but I
was also overjoyed to take a couple of his
finest cards off his hands. Well, to make a
long story short, I picked up 4 Sol Rings, 4
Clones, a pack of 4th (where I got the
Mahamoti), and several other rares. Bored, I
decided to put together a new deck. After
brainstorming a little, I decided to try to
do something I hadn’t always failed at
doing, making a successful mono-blue deck.
First of all, you have to think
about it, most blue decks rely on
counterspells, but counterspelling won’t
win the game (exception: Undermine). Also,
big creatures are hard to pay for and blue
doesn’t have a neato dark ritual for it.
We have got to do a sort of slow your
opponent, speed you up, and shut them down
thing.
I’ll just explain the uses of some of
the cards:
Wayward Soul: A durable warrior, good
against
red damage spells
and black removal.
Puppet Master: Since I’ve only got 2
Djinns’, I
need to make sure they
stay where I want
them (hand or play).
Exhaustion: Make them regret tapping there
lands last turn. Get in 2
turns where there is
a blocker.
Sol Ring: Amazingly fast mana for a 3 turn
Djinn.
Time Warp: Attack, Take Another Turn, Attack
again, Opponent = 0 life.

The Newbie's
Version
|
Enough explaining, just to
rap it up, Draw a lot, Produce A Lot Of
Mana, Get Out Creatures, Mess With Your
Opponent.
The deck for the newbies will be
called “Poor man’s Unethical Cloning“.
First of all, we have to make the deck
legal, and not slow it down, this means
taking out 3 Sol Rings and replacing it with
Thran Dynamo. If you don't have any Sol
Rings, then add an extra Dynamo. Hopefully,
high tide will help the deck stay as fast.
Mahamoti Djinn is rare, costs a lot, and may
be hard to find, replace it with Zanam Djinn
from Invasion. He is much less of a
powerhouse, but you’re probably not gonna
have a lot of blue permanents out (Note:
Beatdown Gift Set has 1 Mahamoti). Clones
are VERY hard to find, so find as many as
you can, Vesuvan Doppelganger will work too.
Time Spiral and Recall are the last ones,
and aren’t the most important cards in the
deck.
What about Time Warp and Ransack?
Those and Exhaustion, some Counterspells,
some Power Sinks, and Islands are in the
Blue Starter deck call “Time Curse“. I
suggest picking up 2 of these decks and you
will have many of the card requirement
fulfilled.
We’ve gotta make this run as
fast as it did with the Sol Rings. The best
way to offset the difference is in drawing
cards.
Accumalative Knowledge and Brainstorm get
us some card
Counterspells, Vision Charm, Dominate, and
Ransack slow your opponent
Wayward Soul and Zanam Djinn beat them down
Don’t be afraid to use Ransack to
control your card intake! Don’t be picky
on what you clone or dominate.
This deck isn't gonna win any tournaments,
but you'll probably get in a couple good
games and win a few.
The End.....or is it? =)
