Individual Analysis
Captain Sisay
I recently purchased 2 boxes of Invasion. I saw Captain
Sisay and pretty
much overlooked it. I thought the ability to search for
legends was nice,
but figured that a lot of legends cost quite a bit. A
simple tap will give
you a legend or legendary land in your hand. Not too bad
at all.
Aether Rift
A personal favorite of mine, Aether Rift will allow you
randomly pitch a
card and, if it is a creature, put it into play. Chances
are that you will
eventually get a creature, because your opponent can
only pay so much life.
There is also the chance that you discard a non-creature
card you want.so be
careful. Good for big creatures to get out soon.
Latulla, Keldon Overseer
Oooh, a living burn spell. This creature will have your
opponent feeling
the hurt once a turn, but your hand may feel it too. The
fact that Latulla
is a 3/3 helps, because it won't die from a simple
Assault or Shock.
Honestly though, any Spellshaper will work, but the
Spellshaper legends will
work with this combo best (Since you can discard more).
The Combo
I am sure some of you may have figured it out, but here
it is. Playing with
Llanowar Elves, you can get the Aether Rift out second
turn. Hopefully, you
will have a Sisay in your hand as well. When you put
Captain Sisay into
play, you can tap it to search for a legendary creature
(Like Latulla). Put
Latulla into play with either the Rift or your mana, and
let the slaughter
begin. Every turn; search your deck for a Legendary
Creature like the
Invasion Dragons. Use Latulla to pull out all cards that
aren't creatures
with the discarding ability. The Rift will force you to
put the creatures
into play. Toss in a Reya Dawnbringer and the creatures
that died or were
denied the chance to get put into play by the 5 life
payment will come back
to haunt your opponent. I have tried this combo at two
tournaments, and I
have had very good results. Here is the deck I used:
Creatures
4x Captain Sisay
4x Reya Dawnbringer
4x Llanowar Elves
1x Crosis, The Purger
1x Darigaaz, The Igniter
1x Dromar, The Banisher

1x Latulla, Keldon Overseer
Spells
4x Ęther Rift

4x Fires of Yavimaya
Land
