The strategy is simple. Flagbearers must always be the target of a spell that can target them right ? So, by using cards like Obsidian Acolyte and Crimson Acolyte, you can give it protection AFTER it gets hit but before the effect happens. This can be used to stop the pesky Vindicates and Urza's Rage's that threatens the player on the other side of the board-until now. Used with Vodalian Mystic, which can change the colour of spells, this strategy can be even more effecient.
