Hello Pojo Fans,

Magikey Maftea is the Magikey Fusion or Ritual Spell rolled into one.

With the deck using a little bit of everything from the Extra Deck it is good to see them get a spell that can do Ritual Summon and Fusion Summon in one. Hand or field for either the summon of your choice and you can exceed the levels for the Ritual Summon, nothing bad so far. If you have our archetype’s Normal Monster cornerstone: Clavkiys, the Magikey Skyblaster, or any Normal Monster (though Clavkiys makes more sense) you get to use a Normal Monster from your deck as a Tribute for your Ritual Summon. So for having a Normal Monster on your field (which works into the bigger monster’s effects) you get a Foolish Burial and half an Advanced Ritual Art for your Ritual Summon. Four total monsters to choose from gives you pretty good options for this card and because the Normal Monster doesn’t have to be Clavkiys, you could run this in different decks if you want to Ritual or Fusion Summon a Magikey, as long as you have a few Normal Monsters to help you.

No downside to this card aside from not being widely searchable, Magikey Maftea is your Fusion Spell and your Ritual Spell rolled into one, giving you more space for other cards.

Next up we got the most important Spell to the Magikey archetype as it gets your plays going, Magikey Maftea.

Maftea is a Normal Spell that lets you Fusion or Ritual Summon any Magikey by using monsters in your hand or field as material, where Levels can exceed in the case of a Ritual Summon. If you control a Normal Monster, you can also send a Normal Monster from Deck to grave as material. So it gets your main monsters out while also using the Deck as a resource. Overall, I’d say that’s pretty good, even if you have to use Normal Monsters. For your big Level 8 Ritual or Fusion, you can at least get your 2nd Attribute with great ease and start trying to fill the grave with the 6 Attributes. This card is also fairly searchable off their Field Spell and Level 4 Ritual, alongside being recoverable off the Level 4 Fusion. We’ll get to those two tomorrow, but overall Maftea is a key card (pun not intended) for the Magikey archetype.

Anyone out there want to take a guess as to what we might be doing the rest of the week after this review?  So Magikey Mafteae is a Normal Magic, and one to assist in your Ritual/Fusion Summoning in the Theme.  If Fusion, you can use Monsters from your Hand or Field, and Tributing said Monsters if you go Ritual.  Ritual Levels can be equal to or greater than the Level in question, which is cool.  Controlling a Normal Monster also lets you send a Normal Monster from your Deck to your Grave as Sacrifice/Tribute for this.  Super cool of them to not specifically request Clavkiys on there for that, so IF you were using other Normals, that opens this up a little more for you.  I think the coolest part of this card is that you can use more than one a Turn if you desire.  You may not always have the necessary Monsters to use more than one, but it’s still nice to know you could if you did.  There’s nothing particularly special about this card but the fact it can drop Fusions and Rituals definitely is a welcome thing to see in a card like this.  Maybe that mechanic will come around more prominently in the future.

Art:  4/5  That is a pretty cool looking weapon tbh
