I can imagine that if you were a mouse, your standard owl would look exactly as scary as this one is, even if it wasn’t technically an elemental as well. Maha’s stats are over the top, and that’s even before you get into the fact that she makes it basically impossible for your opponents to block effectively and creates a one-sided sweeper combo with about half of all Magic cards. I’m not sure how I feel about discarding cards as a ward cost; it’s a real cost and will sometimes be quite punishing, but it’s easier to just push through it when you really have to compared to the mana-costs. Of course, if all you want is a resilient creature, there are options more focused just on that – Maha is here to take out herds of opposing creatures and peck opponents’ eyes until they scream “Zinda, his face black, his eyes red!“, and she does it very well indeed.

Multiplayer: 4.5 (but note that she’s very much a “target me now!” card)
Commander [EDH]: 4.5

Maha, Its Feathers Night represents one of the Calamity Beasts of Bloomburrow, and it has quite the formidable ability. Setting every opposing creature’s base toughness to 1 bakes things very messy, turning small stat drops into quick kills and making creatures die quickly in combat. It’s not just that, though; it’s also a decent evasive body that punches through chump blockers with two keywords and resists a decent bit of removal. Effects like this can make things very fraught, and while it won’t thwart every gameplan, it’ll thwart most of them and allow you to underscore how swooping is, indeed, bad. It being an Elemental also helps it a bit, but that’s more a fun bonus for deeper formats.

Casual: 5
Limited: 5
Multiplayer: 4.25
Commander [EDH]: 4.5 (pair this with something like Night of Souls’ Betrayal)
