What we have
here is a solid 8/8 for 5. The ability is
good. I like discard, even in a game where
you draw 2 a turn. You're drawing 2 a turn
because you need to. Discard, and constant
discard at that, is a major disruption.
Don't get me wrong, there are better overall 8
drops. In the end, though, this guy is
good if you can't afford all the rares.
He's even solid if you can. You have to
build the deck around him, but it's not THAT
bad. In
limited, I really like him. Discard is
pretty hardcore disruptive in limited,
especially if you can drop him on turn 5.
He's a solid wall with range at an okay cost.
Very playable.
And yes, ranting
a little more, America is still crazy, I demand
a recount, and bring back JPL!!!!

Meh. I've found the discard strategy to be
wanting, especially considering we're drawing
2 a turn. So Prof X here is mostly just a 8/8
for 5 with a small ability. As such, it's eh.
Unless we see an awesome discard deck emerge,
there are better drops at the 5 slot.
In limited, consider him as nothing more than
a 8/8 for 5. So compare... if you have better
creatures, play them. If not, he's okay.

Charles Xavier
is one of the cards that adds the element of
control to the Marvel Vs game. Causing you
opponent to keep his cards out of his hand is a
very strong ability. You force him to be denied
the option of power ups, plot twist, and holding
on to large character in hope of playing them
later. In a cost analysis he is very well
balanced for having an 8 power and 8 defense as
well as a very usable ability. In draft he is
going to be coming up a significant amount with
him being in the common slot. Play him when you
have the initiative so that you can deny your
opponent the chance to play an additional card.
Cool flavor text on this one. |

I wasn't overly
impressed with this card. However, if you
work on a discard theme, this card could be
really good. I would imagine this would work
well in concert with Psylocke. Five for an
8/8 character is pretty good, but nothing
stellar. This is a pretty run of the mill
character. This is obviously the lesser of
the available Professor X cards.
