Ra's al Ghul, Master Swordsman
CONSTRUCTED
If you’re looking at using the
League this is the six drop you’ll want to use.
His when coming into play ability is really
great and even though you’re not drawing cards
with it (technically) it’s still giving you a
decent card advantage over your opponent.
Besides if you don’t like this
guy for a six drop then you’re looking at an LoA
deck with out one because he’s the only one they
have to offer so try to save a Mountain
Stronghold for him because you can afford to
miss an earlier drop but can not afford to miss
your six drop. Also keep in mind that if you
don’t have Ra's al Ghul in play turn seven
you’re looking at missing your seven drop too.
4/5
LIMITED
In limited this guy is not bad at
all, if you don’t see his loyalty as a major
drawback. That is his only catch and is the hell
of a catch in this format but he is a six drop
so in theory you should have another LoA
character in play by then. I still say it’s a
bit risky unless you’re the only player drafting
LoA which wouldn’t surprise me because not a lot
of people want o deal with their Loyalty issues.
Even if you’re not planning to
have a lot of LoA characters I say take this guy
because you most definitely don’t want your
opponent to have him. His stats fall in par with
your average six drop and his ability can easily
turn the tide of the game. Yes, you might get a
bunch of characters in your resource row but
once you’ve reached turn six he’ll be getting a
lot of those smaller drops you don’t want to see
out of the way.

Ra’s Al Ghul –
Master Swordsman
Hmmm….. When I first looked at this card I
didn’t see anything special about it. Now that
I am looking at it again ….I do believe I see
the greatness within. Considering that this guy
is your only 6-drop in a League Of Assassins
deck, they sure gave this guy a good ability.
As far as 6-drop characters go this guy is as
solid as they get at a
12/12. His effect will allow you to get all
those characters and
equipment that you had to place into your
resource row earlier into the KO’d pile so that
you can try to fish them out. However, this guy
is going to be abused in a different way. By
using this guy’s effect players are going to
start tossing their worn-out plot twists. Why?
A good player knows that cycling through your
deck can give you a big advantage over your
opponent and can allow you to control the game.
By turn 6, if you have played all of your cards
right, then you will be able to send all of your
used up plot twists to the KO pile without
really worrying about replacing them with
characters and equipment. Then all you have to
do is hope that the cards that you do put down
in your resource row will be helpful plot
twists. It is a great way to seal up the game.
Playing LOA means playing a lot of locations and
the ability to get more onto the field this
easily is awesome.
Ratings:
LOA constructed – 4.0/5.0 …..This is a very
good card with great potential.
Limited – 2.0/5.0 …Loyalty is such a pain in
the butt in this format.

Ra's al Ghul, Master
Swordsman – Avg. 12/12 for a 6 drop. If you are
running LOA the Loyalty shouldn’t be too much of
a factor. Interesting power. When Ra’s comes
into play KO any number of resources and then
put the top card of your deck face down into
your resource row for each resource you KO’d.
This is a good way to get rid of your already
used resources and try to get more usable plot
twists/Locations into play in one turn. The
downside is if you get all characters into your
resource row instead.
Constructed: 3/5 – Rating based on LOA deck
affiliation. He is the only 6 drop available to
LOA right now unless your deck is running team
up cards. So the Loyalty shouldn’t be too much
of an issue. No Range or Flight is always a
drawback.
Limited: 2/5 - The Loyalty might be an issue if
you don’t get the chance to draft other LOA
characters. Otherwise a risky power to use in
Limited.

Today's card brings
up a very interesting question, Why on earth
would you want to KO your own resources?
Mountain Stronghold is about the only LoA
specific resource you'd really want to use it
on, but the automatic reinforcement of your Ra's
al Ghul is probably better than whatever the top
card of your deck is. Its possible to combo this
with Remake the World or Relocation to steal
your opponent's locations and then nuke them,
but the possibility of stranding your best
characters in your resource row makes it a risky
choice. Still, if you get to turn 6, and you
haven't drawn a crucial plot twist, using his
ability may just help you make it to turn 7.
12/12 is a good body for a 6 drop, Loyalty
shouldn't be much of an issue, you'll be playing
him mostly in a LoA deck anyway.
In Limited, getting a good 6 drop is important,
and he's a good 6 drop...however, characters
with Loyalty are tougher to play, and his effect
isn't going to help you much with the very few
locations that you'll have to play with.

Contructed - 3.25/5

Ra's al-Ghul, Master
Swordsman --
This character is pretty average and not much
more. He isn't horribly big for a 6-Drop, he has
loyalty (which can be a pain, but shouldn't be
on Turn 6), and his ability is only OK. Whenever
you use it, you can get rid of all of the used
non-ongoing plot twists in your resource row,
but the cards that you will be netting are a
crap shoot. Sometimes it will work out in your
favor, other times not.
In limited, there are a *lot* of better 6-Drops
that you can play, especially in DC Origins.
Azrael, Mr. Freeze, Conner Kent, Starfire, and
many more are all common, and they are all
better than the Master Swordsman.
