Longshot, Rebel
Freedom Fighter;
Since this is the only format where this guy is
playable I m just going to give him his 1 in
limited and not even waste my time explaining
why he s so bad in that format.
I think this card s value is about to go up
because it s one of the few characters that can
still deal a lot of damage after the release of
DC. Granted he s mostly seen in Sentinel decks
but there s a decent number of Berserk decks
that are very competitive and have a lot of
potential. I think this character is only gona
keep getting better as time passes and more
cards are released because he s very versatile
but you never know.

Longshot – Rebel
Freedom Fighter
Let me go out on a
limb and say right away that, without a doubt,
Longshot is far and away the coolest comic book
character of all time - Thank you. In fact,
when this game came out I couldn't wait to see
just how good they made him - I was slightly
disappointed. First, he is only a level one and
second, that I get him out of every fourth
pack I open.
Now onto the card
itself. First off it's a 2/1 for a cost of one,
the highest attack of the level one's. His
activated power is kind of interesting as
well....name 2 different cards, pick up the top
four cards of your deck and add all copies of
the named card to your hand. At first it may
seem really hard to name two cards and actually
pick them both out of a 60 card deck. There are
a few ways to make this easier. You could
use Madame Web from the new starter deck
(Effect: Activate-> Look at the top two cards of
target player’s deck. You may put those cards
into that players KO'd pile or return them to
the top of his deck in any order). See, YOU
would have to be the target player in this
scenario. Activate Madame Web (to gain 2
endurance) and you know what the top two cards
will be, then activate Longshot to get those
two cards. Starting to see the picture now?
The other time when
Longshot can be really helpful is in a Sentinel
deck that uses a lot of army
characters....mostly Wild Sentinels. It's the
easiest way I know to get a handful of those
army characters you so desperately need.
Ratings:
Constructed -
2.0/5.0 …..Good stats for his level (mostly
useless effect)
Limited Rating –
2.0/5.0 …..Good stats for his level (completely
useless effect)

Longshot,
Rebel Freedom Fighter; It seems the theme for
this week happens to be 1 drops with pretty neat
abilities. 2/1 for a 1 drop is slightly above
average. Again the part that shines on this card
is Longshot's power. All you have to do is name
2 different cards and then reveal the Top 4
cards of your deck. If both of those cards are
revealed then put all copies of the named cards
into your hand. This card has potential in an
Army deck where chances are your deck is loaded
with army cards. Another nice combo with
Longshot is to use Night Vision. Night vision
lets you look at the top card of your deck at
any time. A good way to burn through your deck.
Constructed: 2.5/5 Too risky
in any deck. Needs the right type of deck to see
results.
Limited: 2/5

Longshot, Rebel
Freedom Fighter --
Remember when Marvel Origins first came out, and
Longshot seemed really bad? I do. Then, everyone
figured out the difference between character
name and character version, and Longshot became
a bit better. Then, everyone figured out that it
is still pretty difficult to name two characters
on top of your deck, even with help from Base of
Operations or Night Visions. Later, someone
figured out that if you play army characters,
such as Wild Sentinel and Sentinel Mark IV,
Longshot becomes *amazing*. Now, people are
starting to reconsider playing Longshot in decks
that feature X-Men, Brotherhood, and Lost
City...after all, if you are playing 10-12
Wolverine or Rogue, then they are *kinda* like
Army characters, right?
I really like Longshot, even if I only hit with
him once in every four attempts. Why? Because
once in four attempts, I get to draw two cards.
Otherwise, I got to take a stab at it or attack
with a 2/1, neither of which is a bad option.
In limited, I would definitely play Longshot as
my only 1-Drop. Why? Because over the course of
a 7-Turn game, if Longshot somehow sticks
around, you will get to look at every card in a
thirty card deck. In fact, nearing the end, you
will be able to start stacking your deck,
planning for later turns.
Constructed Rating - 2.5 [he's good, but not
great by a Longshot]
Limited Rating - 3.5
