MSM-008
Constructed
When this card was first viewed by the player
community everyone keep talking about how great
this character was going to be because he was a
better Professor X (7) because you didn t have
to exhaust him to use his ability. After common
sense had some time to kick in everyone most
realized that this character s ability is not
that great, especially once you compare it to
the other seven drops out there. I know that in
theory this guy alone could exhaust your
opponent s entire attack force but you ll have
to discard a decent amount of HIGH costing
Spider Friends who you really shouldn t have in
your deck to begin with. In my eyes this
character is a weaker than average (stat ways)
then your normal seven drop with an ability that
might allow you to exhaust three and if you re
lucky four drops because of the curve every deck
has to run and I still say he should have range.

2/5
Limited
In limited he could be a bit better because
every players curve is pretty much the same, get
every high drop possible and then work your way
down the chain. The only problem with this guy
is that you can only use him in sealed and that
you might not even get to use his ability
because you ll actually have to play the Spider
Friends you draw to stay alive. This means that
the only thing he really has going for him are
his stats alone.

Spider-Man – The
Amazing Spider-Man
"Spider-man, Spider-man, does whatever a spider
can. Spins a web any size, sucks real bad yeah
you know why"
Well the card may say amazing, but in my opinion
he is only mediocre. I would have thought that
the guys that created this game would have given
him range at least (considering he can hit
things from a distance with his webbing). Alas,
instead we get a character with a decent
attack/defense but only at a high recruit cost
and a bleh effect.
As you can probably tell I am not a big fan of
this guy’s effect. By the time you get this guy
on the field you will probably be up against a
rock and a hard place. What is the likelihood
that you will want to throw out one of your own
big spider-friends characters just to exhaust
your opponent’s big character on the field? What
is the likelihood that you will even have
something that big to throw away?
Being able to exhaust your opponent’s biggest
monster is always a plus and being able to do so
without exhausting your own big character is
always great, but come on…how well do you think
this card will work when it really matters?
Ratings:
Spider-Friends constructed deck – 2.5/5.0 ….Just
being good at exhausting the little guys out
there is not enough.
Limited – 1.0/5.0 ….Just say no.

Spider Man, The Amazing Spider Man
Spider Friends is a frustrating team right now
in Vs.
The Spidey vs Doc Ock starter gave us some fun
cards, but not enough support to make them
competitive on their own. Today's card is a
perfect example of that. Spider Man, The Amazing
Spider Man is the 7 drop of the set, and his
ability means that you'll have to hoard some of
your higher cost Spider Friends until you get
him on the field. 14/16 is about average for 7
drops, but with no 8 drop Spider Friends in
circulation, his ability is useless when your
opponent brings out that Dr. Doom, Magneto or
Apocalypse to finish you off.
Being able to use his ability several times in
the same turn can be advantageous though, and a
well timed Twist of Fate can give you a better
chance to pull a high enough cost Spider Friend
to discard and exhaust a real threat.
In Limited, you probably won't see enough Spider
Friends to get much use out of his ability, but
14/16 isn't anything to sneeze at in a format
that doesn't see a lot of 7 and eight drops.

Constructed: 2/5 (3.5/5 when Web of Spiderman is
released)
Limited: 3/5 (just for being a 7 drop) |

Spider-Man,
The Amazing Spider-Man --
The more I think about this card, the more I
like it. He has a decent (but not Amazing) body
for a 7-Drop, but his ability is really insane!
Once you hit Turn 7 and you drop Spider-Man, you
immediately begin to own the game. Oh, you're
swinging on me with your big man? I'll ditch a
big man from my hand and exhaust your guy. Oh,
you wish to team attack? I'll exhaust one and
let the other come towards his doom! Ok, maybe
it's not *that* much fun, but this guy
definitely belongs in every Spider-Friends deck.
As I've said before, limited games are won on
Turn 6 and Turn 7. If you don't have a 6- or
7-Drop, you more than likely won't win.
Spider-Man is a 7-Drop, making him automatically
good in limited. If you pick up a few
Spider-Friends cards on top of that, he becomes
stellar.

Spiderman Foil –
With great power comes great responsibility. The
classic phrase that Uncle Ben tells Peter and
that Spidey adheres to his whole crime fighting
life. How does the holo version of Spidey stack
up. Lets see. Spidey has one of the lower ATK
values of 7 drops in the Marvel set at 14. I
think the other one is Mr. Fantastic. His DEF
value is right up there at 16. One thing I don’t
understand is that they gave none of the Spideys
printed range? He shoots Webs for crying out
loud. |
