Greater of Two Evils
Today we are going
to review a card that only makes the cut in your
occasional irritating doom deck (or x-men/doom
control deck…if there is such a creature).
Unfortunately, in my book, the flavor text of
this card is the only good thing about it.
Sure, if you are running 4 of these in your deck
and you happen to play more than one to make
your opponent suffer and your opponent doesn’t
have a saving device at their disposal and they
don’t have a copy of the targeted character in
their hand and they really like the character
you are targeting and…..get the picture? O.k.
so granted I wouldn’t rate this card on the
level of toilet paper or fire starter, but it
isn’t much farther up on the totem pole. You
know there is a problem when you have a rare
card that is only selling for approximately $3
(and that is not even what it is going for on
ebay).
A threshold cost of
4 for this card’s effect is way too expensive.
You could kind of compare this card’s cost to
using 4 mana in Magic or tributing a monster in
Yu-Gi-Oh. If you are going to do something like
that, you better make sure that the card you are
using is definitely worth putting in your deck.
Your opponent knows that Finishing Move is out
there lurking in the shadows so he/she has
already taken the necessary precautions to get
around that card….what makes you think that you
are honestly going to pull this card’s effect
off?
Ratings:
Doom/control
constructed deck - 2.0/5.0 ……you could do so
much better with some of the other control cards
out there…
Limited - 2.5/5.0
……control is hard to pull of in a limited format
….but so is just about everything else….
Anything else –
1.5/5.0 ….see above
