Blackbird --
I've made somewhat of a circle on what I think
of Blackbird since Origins came out.
Originally, I thought, "Gee, what an amazing
card! This thing is a house! I'll play at
least two!"
Then I played, and understood that I have to pay
two resource points, meaning the best I get on
Turn 3 is a 1-Drop for a character if Blackbird
gets played. So I dropped Blackbird from my
X-Men deck.
Now, after playing lots, I've discovered that
its all in how you play the Blackbird. You need
to have initiative, and a great turn for it to
come down is Turn 5, where X-Men come up a
little bit short in the character department.
If you play it right, you can swing the game
massively in your favor, especially when
combined with Cyclops, Slim.
In limited, if you've drafted a fair number of
X-Men, scoop this card. I'd put it somewhere
around 2nd or 3rd pick in most packs, 1st if
there isn't much worthwhile.

I really like
this card, I love its effect but it's sad
that there aren't very competitive X-men
decks out there and the few that I've seen
don't pack this card. The best use I've
found for this card is in the
Alliance deck because in a
normal X-men deck it runs into the same
problem that Advanced Hardware faces it
throws off your curve if you play this card.
I have seen a few bomb rush X-men decks
trying to abuse Cyclops's (2 drop) ability
and Forge to get this card out soon but that
deck archetype is just not good enough yet
and won't get better until we see more small
X-Men.
Rating 2.5
Limited
If you really,
really, REALLY want your characters to have
flight here you go, because that's the only
consistent thing this card will do for you.
In this format I really don't like its cost
of 2 but I could actually see it being ran
just to give your characters flight. If you
have a X-Men or 2 in your deck you might get
a bonus to your flight ability. = )

- The Blackbird
Ok...so this is my first card of the day. I have
been playing TCG games for a while now and as
soon as Marvel Versus started I knew I had to
jump on the band wagon.
The blackbird:
I play an X-men deck so my review on this card
may be slightly biased...with that said.....I
would have to say that this card is a must for
X-men decks. Why is it so good you ask? Well you
can easily replace one of the more popular cards
(Flying Kick) with this card to have a character
with continuous flying and a not-too-shabby
increase in defense.
So with a card this good there has to be a
drawback, right? Of course...we couldn't have an
extremely broken card right away. There are four
main drawbacks to this card:
1.) This equip card is unique. What does unique
mean? Unique means that you can only have one of
these bad boys on the field at a time.
2.) Whenever your equipped character gets
stunned you have to ko this card.
3.) With a recruit cost of two, this card can be
a bit costly...especially in the first two to
three turns.
4.) This card is rare; which makes it hard to
get. Let's put it this way - I have managed to
pull 6 Savage Beatdowns, but I have yet to pull
The Blackbird. Oh, well...there is always ebay!!:)
With all this said I would still run 3 to 4 of
these in an X-men deck.
I mean, after all, a possible 10/6 Havok or 7/7
Bishop with flying is nothing to laugh at....
Ratings:
X-men constructed decks - 4.0/5 ...it is unique
after all...
All else - 2.0/5 .....it gives you flying...big
deal...
