Another of the location searchers. You'll
find I am a big fan of these cards. In
this case, it helps smooth out your curve,
making sure you have the right guy at the right
drop point. That is so pivotal in this
game. If you miss a drop point, it can
absolutely lose the game for you. I simply
can not see X-Men decks not playing this.
Filtering is really, really good.
In limited, it
totally depends on the number of X-Men, and if
the other cards you have are generally worth
tossing for them. It could be good, but
isn't universally.

An excellent include in an X-Men deck.
Cerebro helps you sift your deck to find the
characters you need. If you draw a character
you don't like, just discard it from your
hand. A definite mainstay location for X-Men.
In limited you can use it to cycle through
your deck if you have some worthy X-Men
characters, the more the better.

The X-Men's answer to yesterday's card, this
gets you characters. A little less important
in constructed, as having extra characters
isn't the best thing you could want. (Note,
however, that you can discard the cards you
put into your hand. So it's not a complete
waste if you turn up useless characters.)
In limited, however, this becomes gold, as it
is all about character combat. If I got this
in my limited pool, I'd play it.

After
playing with X-Men since the set came out,
this card comes in a very close 2nd for my
favorite card in the deck (right behind
Cyclops, Slim). This came as somewhat of a
shock, as when I first saw the card, I
thought, "Eh, it's ok, but I think I'll play
another Danger Room instead." Using Cerebro,
you can turn a very ugly hand into a winner,
and you can do it quickly.
With your cost curve right,
Cerebro very rarely lets you pull up cards you
can't use, and even when it does, they are
useful a turn or two later. Unlike Doom's
Throne Room (see yesterday), Cerebro usually
pulls up a character, and after Turn 3 and 4,
it almost always pulls up a character you can
play -- again, with the right curve.
As far as drawbacks go,
there are very few. It has a low cost, it has
an amazing ability, and at the very worst, you
can ditch the card you added to your hand if
it wasn't any good. The only negative I can
think of is that it has to be used in a deck
with X-Men, meaning it can't go in my New
Brotherhood deck.
In limited, I'd need
about six or seven X-Men to play this card,
but once I hit that number, it automatically
goes in the deck. The only issue you'll run
into is that a lot of common X-Men are cheap
and quality 2, 3, and 4 drops, meaning several
people at the table will likely be drafting
them.
