Mementotlan Ghattic – #PHNI-EN017
If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 “Memento” card in your GY, except “Mementotlan Ghattic”; add it to your hand. If this card is sent to the GY by a “Memento” monster’s effect: You can Special Summon this card. You can only use each effect of “Mementotlan Ghattic” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Mementotlan Ghattic is an aid for the Memento archetype.
Small Level 2 that gets you a Memento card back from your grave except itself retrieves any of your stronger Memento monsters or gets you a Spell/Trap you have already used. Ghattic retrieving Bone Party from the grave only to trade itself for a stronger Memento from the Deck or add it to the hand is a good play because it will trade Ghattic for a better Memento monster. Sure, the Memento monster you search with Bone Party would be Special Summoned in defense, but you can get around that by adding it to the hand instead and Special Summoning it a different way. Dark Blade has to discard a Memento card to do its spot removal ability, Ghattic can swoop in to retrieve what you had to give up.
Speaking of that second effect, Ghattic can Special Summon itself back if sent to the grave via a Memento monster effect. Had it been from a Memento card effect, that would’ve opened up much more potential for this card. As is, trading Ghattic with Memento Tatsunootoshigo to fill your grave with Memento monsters to set up Combined Creation, while still getting Ghattic back is a great play. Memento Mace and Memento Goblin need to trade a Memento for their search effect and their double Foolish Burial effect respectively, and Ghattic is the Memento you want to pop with those effects.
Mementolan Ghattic is the monster the archetype needs to recycle over and over to not lose advantage. While it is only once per turn each, Ghattic is another resource-gathering card for the archetype while also taking on the role of being fodder for the effects. If you can’t recoup off destruction, you need a constant flow of ammo, and Ghattic is that.

Next up we got a brand new Memento card since the archetype is getting extra support much earlier than both Centur-Ion and Vaalmonica, and of course it’s a retrain: Mementotlan Ghattic.
Ghattic is a Level 2 DARK Fiend with 550 ATK an 400 DEF. Of course, it’s Wretched Ghost of the Attic’s stats, which is bad for the ATK and DEF and good for the rest. Upon being Normal or Special Summoned, you can add a Memento card from your graveyard back to your hand, besides Ghattic of course, letting you recover your Spells & Traps, either of the archetype’s hand-traps that go with the boss monster, or a monster that can help extend your plays. The second effect triggers after being sent to the graveyard by a Memento monster’s effect, letting you revive it from the graveyard. It goes perfectly with Tatsunootoshigo sending it from Deck to grave along with something else so you can then revive this and add back any other card you also sent to the graveyard, making it another way to get plays going. Hard once per turn on each effect, of course. Ghattic certainly has a place in the Deck, it just still doesn’t do enough to be a big boost to it. Play it so you can send it and Angwitch off Tatsunootoshigo so you can revive this and recover Angwitch to hopefully Normal Summon, it’ll help you get off to the races.

Mementotlan Ghattic continues the week, a level 2 DARK Fiend monster for the Memento archetype taking after Wretched Ghost of the Attic. While those are all great qualities, they don’t really help Ghattic get splashed in other decks. Ghattic shares Wretched Ghost of the Attic’s bizarre early stat spread, with 550 attack and 400 defense. They’re not good stats at all, but at least they’re interesting!
Ghattic has two straightforward hard once per turn effects, neither of which ironically involve destruction. If it’s Normal or Special Summoned, Ghattic will let you recycle any Memento card from your Graveyard back to your hand. This can be useful for getting back Mementotlan Tatsunootoshigo for follow-up or retrieve your Traps if you sent them with Mementotlan Goblin. Ghattic’s other effect triggers if it’s sent to the Graveyard by a Memento monster effect (so being blown up by a Memento monster, milled by Goblin, or used as Fusion material), letting you Special Summon it. Having a free body is actually not that useful in Memento, as you’ll usually struggle to field enough bodies to Link Summon in a significant capacity, and you’ll actually want your Memento monsters to stay in the Graveyard as fuel for Mementoal Tecuhtlica – Combined Creation. Still, if you have enough Link bodies, it doesn’t hurt. Ghattic is useful, but it doesn’t do much to fix the deck’s problems, which unfortunately won’t be fixed with the next wave either.
+Recycles for follow-up and can be a Link body
+Easy to access
-Doesn’t do much to start combos
-Extenders are the last thing Memento needs
