Hello Pojo Fans,

Mimighoul Throne is our first look at an Xyz Mimighoul.

Rank 1 (obviously), and Mimighoul only. 1-for-1 ability to Special Summon a Mimighoul Master from the hand, Deck, or grave, which will get you a search, as well as interaction during your opponent’s turn.

Throne, after searching out Master can then equip to Master and give your highest ATK Mimighoul monster a 1000ATK boost, putting it as boss monster ATK levels (2800), and gives it a bounce-back ability. The more materials attached to Throne, the more cards get bounced, but you should get at least one bounce and that is a free bounce as it only costs you equipping Throne to Master. You don’t lose out on Throne having a material attached to it and now becoming a forever Equip Spell to Master, because you already used one material to search out Master, which is Throne’s only effect for detaching. I guess you could search out another Master with Throne, but the one bounce after equipping to Master does more.

No protection added to Master when equipped, but it does raise the ATK and you get a bounce-back off the equip. Likely have to commit two cards at least to summon this, but you get Master and then a bounce to take the card advantage back and have a big monster on board. Combining this with Charm will interact with the opponent’s Extra Deck and then during your opponent’s turn your Master will trigger another Mimighoul on the opponent’s field, which will trigger Charm, etc, etc. Not a bad Extra Deck Mimighoul. It is a setup monster and gets you to Master who is a main piece of the archetype’s strategy.

Midweek brings us to one of the two Xyz Monsters given to the Mimighoul archetype, since all TCG exclusives have to get an Extra Deck mechanic dedicated to it in the second wave seemingly, Mimighoul Throne.

Throne is a Rank 1 EARTH Rock with 0 ATK and 1000 DEF. Stats are pretty low, EARTH and Rock are both solid. Materials are any 2 Level 1 Mimighoul monsters, and with the effects it has, you’ll only be using it in Mimighoul anyways. You can detach a material from this card to summon a Mimighoul Master from your hand, Deck, or graveyard. Mimighoul kinda didn’t want to max out on Master since multiples on field can be cloggy for your other Mimighouls that’ll do stuff, so now you got Throne to access it so you don’t have to rely on your Dungeon search for it. During the Main Phase, as a Quick Effect, you can target a Mimighoul Master you control and equip it to this card as an Equip Spell that gives it 1000 ATK, then you can return cards on the field to the hand up to the number of Xyz Materials this had. It’s a nice disruption piece while also being able to give a boost to your Master. If you didn’t need to detach to summon a Master since you already had it, you can get up to 2 cards returned to the opponent’s hand, or maybe play enablers back in your hand. Otherwise, you only get 1, which is still fine. You only get one effect per turn and only once that turn, which is fine to get Master on your turn and use it as disruption on the opponent’s turn. Throne is pretty good for getting you to Mimighoul Master without needing your other cards like Dungeon to do it, plus it gives Master more value since having it and this can be a bounce for 1 or 2 cards. Play a copy of Throne or two, as it’s more consistency to get your Master.

In a bizarre twist, Mimighoul reveals itself to actually be an Xyz deck! Mimighoul Throne is the first of their two Xyz monsters, a Rank 1 EARTH Rock Xyz monster. It’ll take any two Mimighouls, so any combination of Main Deck Mimighouls except Mimighoul Master can make it. Fittingly, Throne’s stats are woefully low, with 0 attack and 1000 defense, but thankfully they shouldn’t be too relevant in the long run.

Throne comes with two effects on a hard once per turn one per turn, which I find very odd since they don’t seem broken with each other, but I guess they didn’t want Mimighoul to be too good at boardbreaking. The first effect lets you detach an Xyz material from Throne to Special Summon a Master from your hand, deck, or Graveyard. It’s a great way to bring out Master so you don’t have to waste a search on it (like their new boss monster), though I’d appreciate it even more if you could revive it from Banishment too since Mimighoul loves to play Dimension Shifter. Aside from that, it helps justify only one copy of Master, which will be more than enough in builds that don’t play Shifter or if you’re smart enough to keep Master alive until Shifter’s effect ends. Throne’s other effect is a Quick Effect, letting you detach an Xyz material to equip itself to one of your Mimighoul Masters, not only boosting its attack by 1000, but also bouncing any cards on the field up to the amount of materials it had. Essentially, Master is getting a sizable stat boost while bouncing one or two cards– without targeting! Non-targeting removal is always great, and it doubles as a combo piece in fringe combo lines. In practice, you’ll usually only be getting one bounce since you’ll be using one for accessing Master. Throne is a great card just for accessing Master alone, so you’ll still play it; I think it is a bit overbalanced, but it’s not a huge deal since the deck’s fundamentals are already so strong.

+Accesses Mimighoul Master to save your searches for other cards
+Non-targeting bounce is strong for both disruption and breaking through tough monsters
-Runs out of Xyz material very quickly
-Can’t revive Mimighoul Master from Banishment
