Akira's Naruto CCG Deck Garage
I received an email
from Jason, who is looking to fine-tune his Jonin's
Intervention deck. It's a Fire/Wind deck that focuses on
negating jutsu while allowing powerful ninjas like Baki,
Itachi, and the Shikamaru & Temari platoon to dominate
from the get go with high combat and support values, and
effects that chip away at the opponent's field and hand.
He has a few great
combos that even I hadn't thought of, such as using Baki
as a back ninja with Gaara [Sand Protection] in the
front. With this team, your opponent will be discarding
a ninja every turn, while your Gaara uses it's effect to
negate all damage to itself. Just watch out for
Shikamaru Formation and Gaara Tragic Name!
Here's the deck he sent in:
Ninjas
3 Nawaki 12th Birthday
2
Choji US Formation
2
Sasuke Analysis of Competence
2
Shikamaru US Formation
2
Temari Violent Temper
2 Gaara Sand Protection
2
Hayate Detecting a Plan
2 Dan
3
Baki Cleaning Up
1

Changes in Pairings
----- Jason, your deck can smash the opponent if you combo early and get the right ninjas and jutsus, but I imagine that it might be pretty inconsistent, since your only early game ninja that can trigger JI is Nawaki, you don't have a lot of draw power, and you have a couple of non-jonin ninjas that will be dead weight in your hand early on.
There are a few days
to really increase the consistency and speed of the
deck. Here is my suggestion for your Fire/Wind Jonin's
Intervention deck.
Ninjas x26
3x Naruto Uzumaki
[Legacy From the Fourth Hokage]
3x Sakura Haruno [A
Double Personality]
3x Nawaki [12th
Birthday]
3x Rock Lee
[Releasing the Gates]
3x Shikamaru Nara [US
Formation]
2x Gaara of the
Desert [Sand Protection]
1x Shikamaru Nara &
Temari [Strong Arm Tactics]
2x Dan
3x Baki [Cleaning Up]
3x Itachi [Relentless
Attacks]
Naruto lets you draw,
Sakura
is
great in combo decks, and Nawaki lets you draw 2 and
drop a Jonin at the end of the turn. This is a perfect
line up for your 0 drops, in my opinion, but play around
with the numbers if it doesn't seem right for you.
Shikamaru is amazing,
and allows you to play that Shika & Temari platoon,
which I personally wouldn't play, but it's ability is
great, and it's a fun card, so if you like it,
definitely include it. Rock Lee can blow up for Jonin's
Intervention. You should always run him!
Gaara helps you stall
for time and combos with Baki. Nice combo Jason, I never
thought of using him! Most people play Gaara [Tragic
Name] here, but I personally don't want to discard my
Baki to nail an opponent's ninja, so I think Sand
Protection works better here.
I'm not fond of Dan,
but he's an okay 4 drop that can draw you cards, and get
out Itachi on turn 4 if you can't combo early on. Also,
he's on element.
Baki and Itachi are
self explanatory. They're the 2 Jonins for a JI deck.
Your opponent will not be having fun discarding their
ninjas and cards as early as turn 2!
Jutsus x8
3x 8 Trigram
Divination Seal Spell Formula
3x Tsukuyomi (Dream
Legacy)
2x Wind Scythe Jutsu
(Coils of the Snake)
This gives you a lot
of control; the fire jutsus allow you to get rid of your
opponent's blockers and trouble ninjas like Shikamaru &
Gaara. Wind Scythe can be replaced by Gigantic fan,
depending what you're playing against.
Missions x6
3x Jonin's
Intervention
3x Changes in
Pairings
3 Jonin's
Intervention is self-explanatory.
The Changes in
Pairings serve several purposes.
First, they allow
your Rock Lee to be sent out to battle and unnopposed.
This means you can blow him up by paying 2 Chakra to get
2 BRs with Lee, and trigger Jonin's Intervention,
without having to worry about something negating Lee's
ability to use his effect, such as Shikamaru Formation.
Also, since you have
to blow up your ninjas to get a Jonin into play, and
other popular decks tend to win by out tempoing the
opponent, Changes in Pairings lets you get a one-up on
your opponent if they manage to get a team that your
Jonins can't safely take out, namely a team with Choji/Shika/Gaara.
All in all, I think
this deck will work much better for you. Thanks for
sending in your deck, good luck Jason!
