Jiraiya [Instructor of the Hidden Technique]

This is one of the better Jiraiyas. Having a Naruto = Jutsu back every turn free of cost. Sannin is good, Oil is good for Gamabunta (Gamabunta and Naruto, anyone?), stats are very good; 7 is big, and he still has 6 when injured, even if you don't keep getting free jutsus. Lightning'll probably have something to heal him with, though.

Limited/Constructed: 4/5

Friday's card Jiraiya, Instruction of a Forbidden Technique, a new rare from Eternal Rivalry. This is the card that makes MonoLightning somewhat possible and one of the cards that make Toad Decks especially shine. As long as you have a Naruto Uzumaki on the field, you can return a Jutsu from the discard pile to the hand. By the time Jiraiya comes out, you more than likely won't need Naruto around for attacking. I'm not sure if the Naruto/Gamabunta platoon would count as a target for Jiraiya's effect, but ultimately, you can replay a host of Jutsus from Kunai, Shadow Clone Jutsu, Summoning Jutsu and even Rasengan to a Jutsu of another element. It doesn't matter what the element of the Jutsu is; as long as the conditions are met, Jiraiya's effect makes sure you have a Jutsu to play on your turn.

Limited:3/5(really depends on if you pulled a Naruto to use the effect)
Constructed:4/5(perhaps the best rare in Eternal Rivalry, abuse it)

Beastly Mage

Jiraiya
(Instruction of the Hidden Technique)
N-US027

Happy Friday, Naruto fans. Today's card is another rare. This Jiraiya has great stats, as well as the Oil atribute. His effect is a bit on the "Meh" side. You need to have a Naruto out on the field so you can recover a Jutsu from your discard pile. He's a nice addition to Lighting/Oil decks, but still, I don't know how much you'll be able to get his effect to kick in. Still, for a deck that depends on such cards as Rasengan and Summoning Jutsu, he can be useful.

Byakuya Kuchiki

Jiraiya[Instruction of the Hidden Technique]

Today we are looking at Mr. Big Shot himself, Jiraiya from Eternal Rivalry. As most of the cards we have reviewed this week he has the same stats and attributes as his earlier versions. He is a turn 6 Lightning. What makes a ninja a ninja is his effect. His effect allows you to take jutsu card from your discard pile to your hand if you have a Naruto in play. This guy is most commonly used with the Naruto/Gamabunta Platoon to get back one those killing jutsu. Either way, Jiraiya has its uses in the right build. All Lightning decks should be running Naruto and to keep getting back Jutsu cards is never a bad thing. For me, I still like the turn 5 Jiraiya since Fourth Hokage usually holds the turn 6 spot. Jiraiya is nice in limited with those killer stats.

My ratings:

Constructed: 3.75/5

Limited: 4/5
