Continuing our Sand Jutsu week we have Sand Tsunami.
Unlike yesterday's card, which any Sand-combat
attribute Ninja can use, this has a turn cost
requirement as well (4 or more). This means only the
new Gaara, possessed Gaara, and Shukaku can use it.
Now, on to the effect: this is a Silent Killing
Jutsu for Sand decks. Note that it says "change to
injured status" and not "give one damage". Still,
this could help take out a whole team in one hit if
played right. In fact, watch for tomorrow's card and
you'll see what I mean.
Today we continue
reviewing Gaara's Jutsu from Battle of Destiny.
Today we get to Sand Tsunami.
First I will start with the cost. The cost of the
card is one of the reasons you will rarely see more
than 1 of this played in Gaara specific decks. 3
Wind is hard for even a Mono-Wind deck to generate.
It's got a requirement of "Sand Combat Attribute +
An Entrance Cost 4 or more". So this Jutsu can only
be used by a few Gaara and Shukaku which also limits
it's playability a bit but with [Immense Power]
Gaara it's not too much of a problem. Now the effect
is pretty good. You can choose one of your
opponent's teams and change every Ninja in that team
to Injured Status. The nice thing about this is that
it can target any of your opponent's teams, they
don't have to be battling against the user or even
battling in general. As stated though the cost is
quite heavy even for Mono-Wind and forget about
using it in Wind/X builds as you will almost never
have the Chakra for it. If you do use it tech 1 if
you're using [Immense Power], if not pass it up.
In limited don't use this. Even if you manage to get
a Gaara that can use it you still need to come up
with 3 Wind Chakra. Pass it by.
The art is pretty plain, nothing special. There is
also another thing I don't like about the card: the
flavor text is very bland, it's simply the name of
the Jutsu. Sand Shower is also like this. Looks like
they ran out of cool flavor text to use.

play as a one-of tech)
Limited: 1/5 (ick, leave this in the extras)
Art: 2/5 (nothing too special, a wall of sand)

Continuing on with the Gaara theme we have Sand
Tsunami.
Hit:
[+] Damage potential. Injuring an entire team is
massive.
[+] Target is any Opponent's team so you aren't
restricted to Ninjas you're battling against.
Miss:
{-} High Cost. As a result decks using it will
probably have to devote a fair amount of its cards
to draw power if it doesn't already.
{-} Bleh Flavor Text :/
{-} Only Turn 4+ Gaara's can use this jutsu.
{-} Negation. This card is a possible target for
Gigantic Fan, Sharingan Eye (Path), Hidden Mist
Jutsu, Wind Scythe Jutsu (Coils), and several other
commonly used jutsu. Best not to use the jutsu
without an adequate counter.
For this card, the strength of the effect outweighs
much of the negative aspects of the card.

all had a great St. Patricks day and Easter!
Today's Card of the Day is Sand Tsunami, one of
Gaara's strongest Jutsu. Causing all ninjas in 1 of
your opponent's teams to be injured can be critical.
It's a situational card, but I've been able to use
it in many situations to win the game.
I myself run a Gaara [Immense Power] deck, and run 1
of these. I tried 2, but I always got it too early.
These have a great place in those decks, along with
3 Sand Tomb.
