Hey everyone, today we are reviewing the new
Super Rare Yamato from Foretold Prophecy!
Let's start with his stats. He is a turn 5, 5/3,
2/2 ninja. He takes a hit on his support, going from
a 5/4 to a 5/3. However, this Yamato also has
Mastery, which is very nice to have. I don't know if
having mastery warrants getting stat hit like this,
but the combination of mastery and his effect is
just ridiculous, so maybe its justified (unlike with
Sai).
Yamato's effect negates the effect texts of all
your opponent's ninjas with a lower entrance cost
than him (so 5). That is a really good effect.
Basically some of the games top cards are negated:
Sasuke CH, puppets, Fourth Hokage Younger Days,
Naruto/Shion, etc. This effect is obviously awesome,
and this should be your go to Yamato in all
situations IMO. This is a Yamato that you don't have
to use simply for squading into Naruto/Yamato.
Instead, you can keep him out on the field until you
need to use naruto/yamato, and then do it. He is
easily one of the best super rares in the set. If I
had to rank him, he would be third (1. Fourth Hokage,
2. Fifth Kazekage). A game changing effect, Mastery,
and good enough stats makes this Yamato the best one
out at the moment.
IMO, he should be a staple in many earth decks.
His only real competition in his turn in Earth is
Deidara Plastic Arts, and the Promo Shonen Jump
Yamato.
RANT: While I was just fawning over this card, I
do want to take the time to express some displeasure
that I have over how Bandai is treating Yamato in
regards to rank. I understand not giving Yamato Anbu.
It makes sense, considering all those put in play
anbu missions in fire would be ridiculously broken.
If that is the case, why not just give him Special
Jonin??? This is why that rank exists right? Even
though earth doesn't have too many jutsus that
require a rank, the fact that he doesn't have a rank
is really annoying. //Rant
Constructed: 4.5/5 <--- Near perfect card. Only
problem is the understatting and lack of a rank.
However, he has three support, which means he can
still hang as a good back ninja. Also, Earth doesn't
really have many great rank-requiring jutsus for his
lack of a rank to be much of a deciding factor in
playing him.. The understatting is also justified
when one considers the fact that this card has both
a ridiculous effect and Mastery.
Limited: 5/5 <---- Super field control + mastery
