Beastly Mage
Dispatch
of Anbu
Today's card is a swarming Jutsu. Dispatch of Anbu
can bring back the Anbu cards in your discard and
Chakra areas to the battlefield. This is possible
even if you already have an Anbu Ninja out. Dunno if
there are going to be Anbu Ninjas in the new set,
but in constructed this can be quite useful. For
three colorless it's a good deal. Try it and see.

Dispatch of Anbu
Definitely another interesting card. This card lets
you fish out all other copies of the “Anbu” ninja
from your discard pile or chakra area and add them
to the users team (who also must be an anbu) . Cool
thing is, these copies don’t go away, they can stick
around on your side of the field and fight. Problem
is though, at the moment there are only 3 different
anbu, and you can run at most 6 in a deck. (3 “fire
anbu” from curse and 3 Yugao Asaki who’s name is
Anbu in her characteristics.) Also, that’s a lot of
Anbu eating up deckspace for one jutsu, especially
since they are all turn 3. It leads me to believe
that we’ll be getting another anbu in this set. For
the most part though, this card will ultimately be
useless unless it’s in a rush deck where you have
slots for a bunch of turn 3 drops. I can’t possibly
see this making a use in limited, unless you draft 3
Anbu…

J-432 Dispatch of Anbu - Jutsu - Fire
This is an interesting card to say the least. The
problem is that there are only two different Anbu in
the game that you can run, so getting it off is the
problem. And no, oddly Kakashi Hatake [Anbu Days] is
not Anbu.
There's the Fire Anbu that you can play multiples of
from Coils, the Wind Anbu from Dream that gets
boosted if you have discarded Special Jonin or
higher, and the same Wind Anbu in Chosen who finally
gets her name, Yugao Uzuki, that gets Growth coins
as your T3 or higher guys bite the dust. The first
two are both called Anbu, so you can only mix/match
three, and throw in three more of Hayate's
girlfriend (poor Hayate... such a dedicated
girlfriend).
So there lies the problem. Only six cards you can
shove in your deck. You'll need one in play as the
user, and at least one in the discard, preferably
two or more to make this ugly. Problem is that
self-milling is Lightning's specialty, and we're
looking at Fire/Wind here, so likely you'll need to
go Fire/Lightning and treat the Wind as splashes.
Keep in mind you will get stuck with your extra Wind
Anbu in hand since you can't play multiples as
normal drops. Dispatch of Anbu would be funny if you
manage to drop three or more, adding 6+ to your team
power to make 10+, depending on which you pull and
if Wind Anbu's effect triggers. Funny if it works,
because you'll likely OV and then have crazy board
presence. Just highly unlikely.
Go make a fun deck on it and see if it works. If
more Anbu come out in the future, I can see it
becoming very strong because extra drops is not a
bad thing. Three generic chakra cost isn't a big
deal since it's generic so you can technically try
any style and use whatever is in your hand, and you
can charge your Anbu from hand, pay with them for
the Jutsu, and retrieve them with this card. Fun
card to say the least, just highly unlikely to work
at this point in time.
I'd like to see someone Shadow Clone over half their
deck away and then play Dispatch by Anbu to OV two
teams, and then completely overwhelm their opponent
with board presence. That would be worth watching.
Limited: 1 out of 5 - In the unlikely chance of
pulling 2x Anbu, having one in play, one in discard,
and this in hand... right.
Constructed: 2.5 out of 5 - Limited choices and
unlikely to pull off, but can be devastating and
possibly game-ending via board presence. Slightly
inflated numbers due to possible potential in the
future. Give us another Anbu Bandai and you never
know...
