Beastly Mage
Iruka
Umino
Today's card is a new version of Iruka-Sensei. This
Iruka gives +1/+1 to all of your Leaf Ninjas, but
only during the turn he was deployed. I'm sorry, but
a temporary pump-up effect doesn't cut it most of
the time. I'm more of a [Reward] fan Iruka-wise.
Still, in Limited this could help a lot if you
manage to draft a lot of Leaf Ninjas.Anywhere else
is up to you.

Iruka Umino [Teacher]
I'll admit; I'm very partial to this card because
I'm a teacher. He's great during the turn you alpha
strike (swing with super teams) and he can produce a
tempoary 3 boost, and 3/2 is not shabby. Downside is
that after testing, in tempo he doesn't quite get
there for your three power Genin, and that's
typically where he'd see most use. Reward and
Accurate Analysis are both great options, so make
sure to consider those when you look at this one as
well.
I really like this card, but he ultimately works as
a win-more card that doesn't always work as planned.
In time I can see him getting much better, so I
would keep a watch on him as he's not bad either.
Constructed: 2.8 out of 5.0 (Time may change
things.)
Limited: 4.0 out of 5.0 (Solid Ninja to boost
others.)

The
Poo
Toucher
Today we have Iruka Umino Teacher from set 12.
When talking about any iruka you have one of two
choices: have good stats or have good effect? Now I
don't mean to say the good stated iruka's have
terribad effects, but there's definatly a
difference.
Now for the good stat iruka, we have both Accurate
Analysis and now Teacher. AA has found a home in
aggressive lightning decks and I have a feeling that
Teacher will give him a run for that spot. He gives
all other Leaf Ninja's +1/+1 for that turn, I think
if he'd given himself that bonus he'd be much
better, but like they say those who can't teach, so
it kinda makes sense.
For good effect, we have Reward. He's an auto heal
that just happens to be a come into play effect,
that means 2 things:
He's very hard to stop.
He goes great in decks designed around Gaara, as he
has no effect it's no loss to discard him for
damage.
Now when discussing Teacher, he has a home in Naruto
Vs. Sasuke, but only a +1/+1 for 1 turn is just a
little to underwhelming to main him, sorry Iruka:(
Consturcted: 2 out of 5. He's has bad luck being
named Iruka, fire could use a card like this.
Limited: 3 out of 5. Ninja+Bonus to other ninjas
make him really solid.
Art: 4 out of 5. Iruka's cool, and he is laying down
knowlege, that's cool.
Until next time, this is THE Poo Toucher

Iruka Umino [Teach]
Well, we got another Iruka. Nice to see his stats
haven't gone up at ALL. Looks like someone needs to
go to the gym.
Anyway, he has the same effect, basically, as the
Third Hokage [GOTV] from LOTL (did we really need 3
Super 3rds in a single set?), except only for a
turn. AA and Reward, and even Scapegoat, are all
better than this.
2/5
Art: So pathetic, you'll get laughs whenever ya
'ploy him.
Fun Fact: Soda only makes you thirstier.
Tomorrow: Follows this same pattern. Can you figure
it out?

This card from ANC, I like. It’s a great boost for
tempo and NvS decks. Play NvS, drop Iruka and swing
away for free battle rewards while you have a quick
boost. Also works well in tempo otherwise where you
want to just keep hammering your opponent with
smaller ninja and quick boosts. Last I heard, a free
boost from a ninja is pretty spiffy. This card is
also pretty useful in limited, as those little
boosts can help swing the game one way or another.
Personally though, I’m still curious as to what this
“cube” format for limited is. Tylar and Zero
(Andrew) were talking about it in the podcast…
