Beastly Mage

Sasori & Kisame Hoshigaki

Welcome to another week of reviews, Naruto fans. Today's card is a platoon from set 12. This platoon is actually an Akatsuki platoon, and it packs a punch. It's Kisame and Sasori together and it's got two cool effects. First one, though not that usable but good when your opponent's down to just chump blocking, is that they can't be blocked by a single-Ninja team. That can be good. Now, the second effect is what gets you. It's a valid effect and it doesn't even require this platoon to go out to battle. You can give one damage to one Ninja your opponent controls at the end of the turn. Granted, that Ninja has to be the lowest entry cost Ninja there. Still, it's pretty sweet. They've also got great stats (they remain the same in both inured and healthy) and nice characteristics (Puppet Master is a good one now). Strangely, this platoon doesn't have Sasori's Mental Power (at least not in the preview pic, since I haven't seen one upclose and personal yet). This card works great in constructed, but good luck in limited.

Ratings:

Limited: 2/5
Constructed: 4/5
Art: Too much Akatsuki for my taste, but that's just me.../5

Sasori and Kisame Hoshigaki

This platoon is a weird combo. I’m pretty sure these two have never talked to each other in the manga or anime series. So, I’m not sure why they get a platoon, unless Bandai has been reading some really bad fanfictions (you know the ones I’m talking about). Despite all that, we have here an interesting platoon here. Unlike the Itachi and Deidara platoon, this one could actually be useful! It’ll see play mainly in a water deck, with a one time use Kisame that eats three chakra when he comes into play. Platoon this card off that one, and run it with DOCV Zabuza. You have a team that can’t be chumped, and auto-kills one ninja at the end of the turn. Pretty nifty really. It’s valid, and the 7/3 stats stay solid! It’s not too bad in limited either, being there is an uncommon and super sasori, and an uncommon Kisame in this set. Try it out.

Limited: 2/5 (Platoons are still hard to pull off in limited)
Constructed: 3/5 (It just finishes the game quicker. It’s not going to instantly turn the tides of battle)
Art: Bad crack fiction fueled art.
Sharingan Warrior Hello everyone this is my first review so it may not be very good so bear with me for a little while. Our card for today is N-479, Kisame Hoshigaki. Let take a look at the effect for a moment. "Inexhaustible power" When this ninja is sent out to battle and opposed, the Head Ninja Battling against this Ninja's team gets -X/+0. X= the value of that Ninja's current status Support value. Now first off the effect of this Kisame is on of the only effect of his that does not involve discarding chakra. Now this ability can work good in some cases reducing an average teams power by at least 2 or 3, however if your opponent a head ninja such as Orochimaru or The Second, Third, or Forth Hokage the team would be reduced by a 4 or even 5. Reversely if your opponent had Tsunada or Manda as the Head Ninja the team power would be affected very little. All in all its an ok card with average stats for Kisame. The only problem is he lacks a valid ability. \

Art: Not the best picture I've sen of Kisame but it better than others. 3/5

Good afternoon all you naruto fans! My name is PT and this is the Naruto Card of the Day. (take that zero?)

Today we cover a super rare that leaves me wondering what super rare means to bandai (because it's obviously not one of the best cards of the set) and yet intrigues a teammate of mine never the less...Let us look!

Sasori & Kisame is a Turn 6 platoon (meaning you must already have 1 or the other sasori or kisame in play in order to put it into play. For Turn 6 he's very well stated at 7/3 both ways (it needed to be to justify platooning) with a solid effect. It seems that the red cloud crew will do the same no matter who's filling the coat (doesn't itachi/deidara do this?) they can't be blocked by 1 man teams and at the end of the turn you can damage their lowest drop ninja.

Before I go into anything past the name, let's look at which Sasori or Kisame will be played in a competitive play:

Sasori: is really only meant for puppet decks, the super from this set gives a ninja "puppet" along with the ability to put him into sasoris team before battle occures. He has ambush and is a turn 5.

Kisame: Chakra Eating Swoard from set 9 has really taken his place into water. The other chakra draining Kisame's don't activate until after the jutsu step (where chakra is used) but Chakra Eating Swoard discards 3 before the jutsu step, very good indeed but loses value as the game goes on as he has no effect. Another rising stars among Kisame's is Cold Blooded from set 11, who not only possesses ambush but eats chakra seemingly every turn, not bad. Every Kisame is Turn 5

What we can determine from this is that in Wind, you really need the effect that the Sasroi has, because it can change games. In Water, Kisame loses value and fast after being put into play. This opens up a solid curve of Kisame on 5, platoon on 6, along with play a ninja. We might have something...

Stat wise, either way you look at it it's not much of a boost healthy (Sasori is a back ninja so no boost but kisame is a head ninja so +1) and not losing a single point injured could go very far in this game. At this point it's becoming clear that this is more a water card than a wind card.

Effect wise, a platoon with a solid damaging effect is good, the un-chumpable effect is just great. Platooning of CES would make this a solid trade for the effects, with sasori or cold blooded it's an ok trade but not with the additional hand cost.

Overall, This card has a place, I thank my teammate for showing me that. In Water if you run CES, you could run 1 of this to try and get there, and if you don't hit it oh well.

Constructed: 3.5 out of 5 in Water with CES. 2 out of 5 anywhere else.

Limited: 4 out of 5. if you can land the kisame/sasori, he's great.

Art: 1 out of 5. Not all that impressed.

Till next time.....
