Beastly Mage

Control of the Nine-Tailed

Today's card is another jewel from the new set. Basically it stops OC dead on its tracks, since neither player can put in play Ninjas with that effect name. It also prevents both players from putting in play the new "Tailed Beast Form". What's that? If you've read the manga, you know what Tailed Beast Form is. *wink-wink*

Like this week's previous card, it's good for Water control decks, but as sideboard material mostly.

Mark Howard Sealing the Nine Tailed

I have pounded out argument after argument about how terrible this is, one as a card, and one that it was actually made. This is possibly the worst attempt that any TCG manufacturer has ever made, in any card game, for any meta-killing problem. Instead of repeating my same points over and over again, I'll take a long search into my Bandai account and just copypasta my opinions on this card. (20 minutes later) Tired of searching, here's one thing I've said about this card.

Anyone who thinks Sealing will stop OC is an idiot. It's specific to just Earth and Water - currently the worst elements right now (though only a little bit behind wind, depends on build), and by playing it, you've lost two cards, and only one goes back to Chakra. Furthermore, you have to get this mission out before the OC comes out. When you're siding this, you'll need to put in 3 to make it effective, which will just murder your deck's performance.

Even when each player is using 3 of the cards, the OC is still more likely to get out before Sealing does. Even then, Chain Lightning can simply put in a little bit of mission hate. Sealing the Nine-Tailed is a terrible attempt to stop OC. It's a bad card for the game because it'll start turning it into a side-war, and we have enough to shove into our decks already.

Bandai needs to make a real attempt to stop OC. Just errata it, and everyone moves on with their lives. I know Bandai doesn't like erratas because they hinder the CCG's sales. The OC tins are old, and already bought out. Giving them an errata, even if it makes them completely unplayable (which it won't), will not hurt sales. Erratas are not the plague. They're necessary for the game, and are very good for it. Imagine if, instead of errata'ing [Addressing Past Wrongs], we had a card that says "The Third Hokage can't be played". Would that have helped back then? No. Does something like that help now? No, especially after all the mission hate we got from ANC.
