Beastly Mage
Release of Fury
Today's card is a bit of a killer. It makes the
user (in this case, Might Guy) a bit stronger. Now,
pump-up Jutsus are good, but not that good in most
cases. So, here's the part that makes you actually
think about using this card in a Taijutsu deck:
-The pump up is X total power, where X = the
total amount of Ninjas battling Guy + 1
-When a Victory is won, it becomes an Outstanding
Victory (nothing else happens).
-When an Outstanding Victory is won, you get to draw
2 cards.
It's a good pump-up card when you look at the
effects more than the pump-up itself. Remember, the
Victory effects are not stackable, unless you use
more than one of these. In Limited, good luck with
this one! In Constructed, where you even have Rock
Lee cards that can use this Jutsu, it's good. It's
still good in Block too.
Man, it has been a crazy week or so...the stories I
could tell you...that and my comp has been not
really working that well for a while now, and it's
still not great. I'll just try and cope
though...and as per normal, the Sideboard will be
getting back on track this week, and catch Naruto
Shippuden Live every Wednesday at 9:00. Also be
sure to try out your strategies at Trade Cards
Online's virtual tables to sharpen your skills...I'm
a fan of advertising...
Today's card is a fun little Might Guy jutsu by the
name of Release of Fury. The card itself seems like
it was already done with Asakujaku, but I'm not one
to challenge the card game. I kind of like this
card, and if the game slows down a bit this could be
a good card. But let's check out it's stats, shall
we:
Release of Fury
Lightning l 2
Requirements: "Might Guy"
Target: User
Effect: The target cannot be removed from play
during the turn. Additionally, multiply the target's
Power by X. X = the number of Ninjas Battling
against the user plus one. When the user's Team wins
a Victory, it becomes a Outstanding Victory. When
the user's Team wins an Outstanding Victory, draw 2
cards.
It's kind of hard to want to start a chain with this
card, seeing as the invulnerability to removal
abilities probably won't matter, but the pump would
probably OV the opponent even if the card didn't
force it, unless Might Guy is by himself. Being
able to draw two cards for the predicted victory is
pretty nice as well, but the problem still is that
it's simply a pump and can't stand up to removal.
That right there is a flaw of lightning, but having
only one user (two with Rock Lee/Tortoise Ninja)
kind of hurts it's playability a lot for a pump
card.
It's a nice card and in a Might Guy deck, it's not
bad. But in this meta, it's too hard for it to
start a chain. As a response, it's not bad, but it
can only protect one ninja in team. A few flaws to
a nice pump jutsu but it's still worth playing in
it's own deck.
Limited: 1.5/5 Afro Might Guy will freaking rock
you!
Constructed: 2/5 Solid, even without afros...
Block: 2/5 Nothing's different here...Art: After
Might Guy grills fish man, he's going to EAT HIM!

4/20/10 J-641 Release of Fury
======================
Before I start today's review, I'd like to apologize
for yesterday's short one. I was very busy that day
and I didn't have time to thoroughly look at the
card. I was under the impression you could only take
a puppet with it rather than any ninja. Sorry for
the oversight.
Now to today's card.
Release of Fury is the worst SR in Broken Promises
but it is no Leaf Hospital or ES: Rending Piercing
Fang. For one Lightning and two colorless, you're
Might Guy's power by the number of ninjas he's
facing plus one and he can't be removed from game.
If he wins a Victory, it becomes an Outstanding
Victory; additionally, if he wins an Outstanding
Victory, you draw 2 cards. I'm not sure how using
this jutsu successfully would not lead to an
Outstanding Victory, unless you are only battling
one ninja. Pulling this off can easily turn the tide
of the game since you wipe out a whole team and draw
two cards. Also, Rock Lee & Tortoise Ninja can use
this jutsu which is a nice extra user as well. A
very powerful jutsu that should be ran in Taijutsu
decks.
Limited: 1/5 Too hard to pull-off here
Constructed: 4/5
Block: 4/5
