Beastly Mage
Today's card is one that sees a lot of play in
Wind-Based decks, particularly in Puppet decks.
Substitute allows you to look for one Ninja, put it
in play, and kill off one other Ninja. Let's say you
have an Kankuro in play, but you need Ebizo. No
problem, this card allows you to look for Ebizo and
put it in play, and then discard Kankuro. It's a 1-1
Ninja-wise. Nice thing about this card is that the
effect is a "put in play" effect and not a "deploy"
effect. Pretty good in that sense. Try it and see!

Hey guys. Today we have the #5 card of 2009, the
wind mission Substitute.
Substitute is awesome, to say the least. It works
best as a combo card, such as with Shino Insect
Warriors, or Akamaru partner. Also, let's say your
Kankuro [Trick] dies, and you use his effect to
bring out Father and Mother. In that case, you can
then use Substitute on Father and Mother to bring
out a Sasuke [Cold Headed] or the new Baki. You can
also use it on an injured ninja to get rid of it,
and bring out a healthy ninja (but with a different
name). All in all, an awesome card when comboed with
ninjas with put in play effects.
Pojo Ranking: #5
My Ranking: #8
Constructed: 4/5 <--- You do have to give up a
ninja to use its effect, making it balanced, but
still very good.
Limited: 4/5 <--- Helps you search your deck for
your top ninjas. Good here too.
109th Star
Substitution
Mission Card
Wind
Entrance Cost: 1 Hand Cost: 1
Target: 1 of your ninjas
Effect: You can search for 1 Ninja Card in your deck
with an entrance cost lower than or equal to the
target's and put it into play. Then, discard the
target.
Substitute is a very very strong mission card for
wind decks. It is quite possibly the most versatile
Ninja tutor effect in the game outside Long Awaited
Reinforcements. You can essentially morph one of you
mediocre or useless ninjas into the perfect ninja
you need to accomplish whatever goal you have at
that moment.
Essentially this card is amazing not for its
power, but its versatility. This card allows you to
run many more single copies of the ninjas in your
deck, but still pull them out consistently.
In short, if you're running wind, I'd give this
card serious thought.

amazing one? yes please)
