							#1 Kankuro [TACTICIAN]

Here we are, folks.  The number one card of 2009,
and most of you saw it coming a mile away (and
probably run it yourself).  Drum roll, please?  The
							card of the year is...

Kankuro [TACTICIAN] has been seen in a lot of decks
this year, and most decks aren't even considered
complete without running the one that we're allowed
of him.  This card was the reason that Sasori of the
Red Sand was rogue'd down to one, as well as Kank
himself.  But unlike a lot of the other cards on the
list, this card was made powerful by both his effect
as well as his stats, so let's take a look at them,
							shall we:

							T3 HC0 Wind
							Sand | Male | Jonin
							3/3 2/2 CA:
							Manipulation
							Set 12 Super Rare

							Wow, only three
keywords, and two of them are very important!  Being
Sand is quite helpful, as it helps in Wind City
decks.  But honestly, the real keyword that matters
here is jonin.  That keyword allows him to use a
large portion of water's jutsu as well as trigram,
which along with great stats for the turn at 3/3
made him one hell of a card to hit on turn.  But
honestly, if that was it, he wouldn't be the card of
the year, he'd just be a great card.  His effect is
what vaults him up beyond any other.  Let's take a
look at the best effect in the game right now, shall
							we:

							[TACTICIAN]

When this Ninja is deployed, you can search for 1
"Puppet" Ninja card with an Entrance cost of 3 or
less in your Deck and place it in your hand. Then,
							shuffle you Deck.

							Valid: During
the exchange of Jutsu, you can place 1 "Puppet"
Ninja card with an Entrance cost of 3 or less from
your hand in this Ninja's Team in any position.

							What makes this
effect great isn't just the free draw and put into
play effect, it's how puppets work in the game.  The
ability for them to jump into teams without breaking
the team limit allows the world's most played
							puppet, Salamander [LIFELESS WARRIOR], getting
Kankuro to be a 4/7 ninja on T3 is quite possible.
With him at 1 per deck right now, he's a bit harder
to hit, but most decks have enough draw to hit him
							pretty reliably.

							Honestly, this guy
is an auto inclusion in any deck you run right now,
especially in block, having lost Kankuro [TRICK].  I
really don't have to sell you on why to run this
card, you either do or you get crushed by someone
							who does run it.

							Limited: 5/5 This
set has the LW, so run it and win.
							Constructed: 5/5
Savor it, because it does need to be ban'd/rotated
							out/burned!!!
							Block: 5/5 See
							statements for constructed.
							Art: The first time
I saw this card, the only thing I thought was "SUPER
FLYING KANKURO ATTACK RAGE!!!!", and now that I see
it after this list, I know that my thought was
							correct.../5

							Well, that was the
top 10 cards of 2009, and it looks like from this
set coming up, we have a few contenders for the
crown already.  This is my second 10 ten at Pojo, so
here's hoping I'm with you all to count down the top
							10 of 2010 and beyond! |
