Beastly Mage
Sand Cocoon
Today's card is an exclusive from the upcoming set:
Fangs of the Snake. This version of Sand Cocoon can
be used by any turn 2 or higher Ninja. Simply put,
it can provide a switcheroo mechanic to the game.
This Jutsu allows you to bounce your Ninja, and put
a Ninja with the same name as the User back into
that Team in any position (head or back). This can
help if a Ninja you control is Injured and you need
to heal that Ninja. Here's the twist: if the user
WAS NOT Gaara of the Dessert, then said Ninja will
have to go back to your hand at the end of the turn.
In Limited, this card could be helpful. It costs
either one Wind or two Colorless. It can sure be
good in Constructed too, particularly in Unlimited
where Shukaku still roams (hint-hint). Try it and
see!

Mr. Pojo is a pretty cool guy. He gets lots of
exclusive previews and doesn't afraid of anything.
Today's card finally gives Gaara [Conversation]
purpose. Gaara [Conversation] was reprinted in the
"Fierce Ambitions] tins, but he was a dud card since
he searched Sand Cocoon and it Sand Cocoon is
blocked, that is, until now. The effect is nearly
the same as the old one from Revenge and Rebirth,
but with a few new upgrades. For starters, now
anyone with an entrance cost of two or higher can
use it now, however, if the user is not Gaara, the
card you place with the card is returned to your
hand. Additionally, it has an alternative cost of
two colorless, making it splashable, although I cant
see this being splashed.
The main combo with this card is to play Gaara [C],
take this card, then switch Gaara out with Shukaku,
the Fifth Kazekage, or whatever T4 or higher Gaara
you need (basically, the obvious combo). Some other
combos you can do is return any ninja with a strong
"put in play" effect and put it back in play to redo
its effect. The only downside is that it will return
to your hand, but this is not always a bad thing if
you want to use the same p-i-p effect for a third
time.
All and all, this is mediocre card with some uses.
Might be better if we see some more Gaara support in
this or upcoming sets.
Limited: 1/5 Not too useful here.
Constructed: 3/5 Could be devastating if used
correctly
Block: 2.75 Block hurts combos with this.
