Shin
Today's card is Sai's "brother", an
ANBU/Foundation Ninja with 2 Mental and decent stats
at turn 2. Shin's effect allows you to discard him
to prevent any of your Ninjas to go Stand-By. This
effect, of course, occurs during the EoJ, therefore
chainable. It's a pretty good effect, with making
stand-by one way to get battle rewards quicker than
simply removing. Knockout Blow, and other Jutsus
used in Medical Decks, the new Chidori, and other
Jutsus come to mind at this moment, and all can be
countered by Shin. Just remember, keep him
protected... it's not valid!

N-725 Shin [STRONG BOND]
Sorry I couldn't update the channel, all. I'll be
getting to that tomorrow/thurs, but it seems I'm
getting new subs without updating, which is just
darling. Beyond that, just getting prepped for the
Chunin I'm heading to, hoping to have some good
competition out there and place in the top 8. I'm
expecting Team JSN to place well, as well as the
debut of one of our players on the larger stage,
which will be nice. For those interested in joining,
please hit me up...pretty much anywhere but on the
Pojo boards, as since I'm done with my trading, I'm
done with them.
Today's card is Shin, one of the other Anbu
ninjas in the set. He's weird in that he's off
element for Anbu (just like Sai...sigh...), but
beyond that, let's check out his stats, shall we:
T2 HC0 Lightning
Leaf | The Foundation | Male | Anbu | Mental Power:
2
2/2 1/2 CA: Weapon
Set 16: Common
This feels like another ninja that makes drafting
easier, but we need to start getting some Anbu with
a bit more offense. He's a great supporter with good
mental and a decent combat attribute, but not much
else. Anbu and The Foundation are pretty useful tags
in their own deck, and Anbu mill is still pretty
viable, but all the cool kids are going to swarm
with this guy. His rank is a little early for his
turn cost, but nothing in lightning can abuse that,
so it's time to check out his effect, shall we:
[STRONG BOND]
During the Exchange of Jutsu, you can discard this
Ninja. In that case, each Ninja in your Battling
Teams cannot become a Stand-By Ninja during this
turn.
...that effect seems oddly specific, like they
were expecting the stand-by blitz of this set.
Sadly, his effect doesn't set off a lot other than
Gift From a Friend, but hitting that mission this
late into the game is kind of meh in power. I guess
it stops Chidori and Fear by Genjutsu from losing
you the game, but it feels like a heavy cost for
that. His effect isn't really his draw, it's the
rank he has, so think of him as vanilla if you have
to with a somewhat situational effect.
Anbu is a deck that I'd like to see more of, and
I think it has a lot of potential. Honestly, the
amount of decks that seem viable nowadays are
incredible. Anbu, Battle Reward Manipulation
(Exposing the Hideout decks), Animal Rush, Females,
Academy, and mono of any element make this a great
set to be playing the game, which is just awesome.
Limited: 2.25/5 He's pretty good as just a drop
or if your opponent drafts FBG
Constructed: 2.75/5 Just a little better than
average
Block: 3/5 Anbu is a cool deck, and you need him in
it
Art: He looks like a nice guy rather than a
ninja...and that's how they trick you into getting
murdered with their rage.../5
