Beastly Mage
Hinata Hyuga (Childhood)
Today's card is a Chibi Exclusive from the
upcoming Tourney Packs!
Hinata as a Ninja Academy Student has some good
things going for her.A turn 1 with 2 support in
healthy and 1 in injured is good even if she doesn't
have any combat. Taijutsu Combat Attribute is good
too. Her characteristics are plenty, I must say,
Mental and Main Branch included.
Now, her effect is good too. It only kicks in
when she's discarded due to the Showdown. Rather
than hit the discard pile, she goes to your Chakra
Area... and you get to (randomly) discard one card
in your opponent's hand...
SWEET!
For Hand Control decks, this is good. Even though
you lose a Ninja, you do get Chakra, and you discard
one of your opponent's cards in the hand. Though,
the name would apply more to the card art than to
the effect. LOL
Today's card is our compensation preview since
Piercing Chidori was spoiled, and it is quite an
interesting one to say the least. First off, she's a
T1 ninja which is kinda strange since her Genin form
is T0, sans her earlier forms which was T1. Also,
she dons 0/2 and 0/1 stats which is the normal T1
support stats, except Hinata usually has a little
bit of combat. That aside, she's still pretty good.
Let's get to her effect.
Her effect is similar to that of the other
(Childhood) Genins; it is triggered by moving her to
your chakra area when she is discarded due to the
showdown. I've had mixed feelings about these
effects since you generally don't want to kill off
your ninjas, except it makes them very nice chumps
since they give you a nice boost. Her effect in
particular is very good, since it is similar to that
of [Reserved Character]. Nuking your opponent's hand
with her when she dies is good, and it can start to
stack if you play [RC] next turn.
She is very good in draft, as that is what she
was made for, but she has a problem or two in
constructed since Hinata [SS] + Hinata
[RC]/(Student) is a popular combination. She can
still be put in these decks, but it would be like
running Haku (Childhood) and Tracking Ninja; both
are good, but one becomes a dead-card when you have
the other out. However, she is good in decks that
are running Hinata [For The One I Admire] since you
can grow over her for a possible two card nuke. Or
you can always search her out Hinata [SS] for a T1
with three support that will be useful when she is
no longer needed. The only other problem with her is
she is not really a good choice for Naruto/Hinata
since you won't get her strong effect.
Right now, she is very good and playable since
she has (Childhood) attached to her name so she
won't tie-up your Hinata slots, but some people may
not want to run a lot of cards with the same name.
In the end, Hinata (Childhood) is a very strong card
that will be even better after rotation.
Limited: 5/5 Good effect, decent stats, early
game. 'Nuff said
Constructed: 3.75/5 Very good, but you may not want
to crowd your deck with Hinatas.
Block: 3.75/5 Same as Constructed since pretty much
every Hinata people use are Block legal. After the
rotation though, this card will probably become an
Earth staple.

Hinata Hyuga (Childhood)
[Cute]
She sure is. We here at pojo bring you our first
Tournament Pack 1 preview card! (All thanks to
SOMEONE on the Bandai forums who spoiled our last
preview…)
So, aside from being 100% adorable, I really like
this card. It has good synergy with Hanabi to help
your curve, and good support stats. It is odd to see
a younger version of Hinata that is a higher
entrance cost than her Genin versions, however. But
this Hinata has all the nifty characteristics we’ve
seen on the last 2 Hinata cards previous, plus an
awesome effect. Hinata (like the other childhood
cards) goes to chakra when discarded AND pops a card
from their hand. Not too bad at all. This card will
be useful in Hyuga decks and Leaf Academy Decks
where dropping all your Hyuga ninja or getting
growth off respectively will win you the game. Other
than that though, most decks will stick with
[Moving], [Strong Spirit] and [Reserved Character]
Hinata cards.
