Beastly Mage
Neji Hyuga & Hinata Hyuga
This Squad Card is good not just for Reward Flip
Decks, but also for decks that rely on Tracking
effects. When your opponent's Tracked Ninja goes out
to attack, your opponent has to discard one card at
random from the hand. This fits well into the
Byakugan hand control strategy. Now this Squad also
has a Valid effect, allowing you to flip two of your
opponent's Battle Rewards face-up during your
Mission Phase. This card is pretty good in the right
deck. Try it and see!

9/29/10 N-895 Neji Hyuga & Hinata Hyuga [Power Of
The Hyuga Clan]

Today's we look at squad that helps many of
Earth's archetypes, specifically, all-around
shutdown. For starters, getting this ninja into play
should not be terribly hard to do. The new entrance
cost 0 and 4 Nejis are popular cards for Earth, and
there isn't an Earth deck I know of that is not
running at least two of the many playable Hinatas we
have in this format. It has the obvious combination
of the two required ninjas' characteristics and
great 7/2, 7/2 combat for turn 5. When the squad is
put in play, you can change the ninja you are
tracking, which is vital late game as you may want
to shutdown a T5 ninja your opponent played last
turn, or maybe the low entrance cost ninja you were
tracking may not be as much as threat to you
anymore. Whenever the ninja you are tracking is sent
out to attack, your opponent must discard 1 card
from their hand; this can easily prevent your
opponent sending out a ninja to battle if their hand
is low, which is very common for players fighting
against Earth. The second effect is a nice bonus
for BR fliiping decks since it allows you to flip up
to two cards; a nice trade-off for losing set 18
Neji and Hinata, which both have BR flipping
effects. Both of these effects are valid which is a
nice complement to the high injured stats this squad
has. A good card for Earth, however you play it.
