Beastly Mage
Kamui
Today's card is a new version of the Kamui Jutsu.
It's a Super Rare from the upcoming set, and it's
got a few nice things to it. For three Fire, either
Kakashi or Itachi (also, remember that Sasuke that
can use the Itachi Jutsus?) can inflict two Damage
on a Target Ninja on the Battlefield (no side
specified). Note that it's "Two Damage" and not
"Change to Injured", "Discard", or "Remove", but two
actual hits. Then comes the fun part. If your
opponent has more Ninjas than you do, this Jutsu
returns to your hand. If you have enough Chakra,
then you can do this a few more times thanks to this
somewhat-of-a-Mastery effect.
The only drawbacks to this card are that it only
targets Ninjas on the Battlefield (so no Stand-By
Sniping), and it doesn't get the return effect if
you have the Ninja advantage. It's still pretty
good, particularly for Sharingan Decks (which could
make a comeback). Normally Fire is relying more on
Milling, so this is a breath of fresh air for Fire.
In Limited it suffers a bit, but it's better in
other formats. Try it and see!

J-871 Kamui
===========
Today's our last set 23 exclusive preview, and as
usual we have saved the Super Rare for last... I
would have said best for last, but for a super,
Kamui is more of a Ka-meh (sue me). Removal is nice
to see in the current format, but the requirements
for this card are a little too high in my opinion.
It costs three specific chakra and only has two
users which are both T4+. The auto-mastery effect is
kinda pointless as well. Fire should have Anbus
rushing all over the place (I know other elements
can, but Fire has Make-Out Paradise for better
consistency) and if you're opponent still has more
ninjas than you after removing one of them, you're
doing something wrong.
Compared to the Kamui from set 15, this one is
all around worse. The old one did the same thing
except it sniped, rather than semi-sniped, and won
you a BR. Heck, Sharingan Kunai is better than this
super. It practically does the same thing except it
automatically is returned to the hand (assuming you
did use it with a Sharingan ninja) and it could only
target opposing ninjas.
Will this card see play? Maybe... For one more
chakra, Hydro-pump can do a better job of field
cleaning and cards like Smash and Dragon Flame can
kill off ninjas with less requirements.
